they say that the way to make a small fortune in business is to start with a large fortune. The way to be full and broke at Shake Shack is to start full and rich.
For the price of the meal I could have made 4-5 burgers on my own. Or gone to Culver's and gotten pretzel bites with my burger - and still saved 4 bucks.
We already have a smash burger place (the aforementioned Culvers). And the burgers there are bigger. The buns are better. The bun is the same white brioche that comes in plastic at the grocery store. like a good wonder bread brioche but I can get 8 of them for 3 bucks. And even if they use 73/27 charging 8 bucks is a rip off. The burger is tiny. I can get 2 lbs of 73/27 and some American cheese and there I go. Making smashburgers is not that hard.
The chocolate malt was neither particularly chocolatey nor malty (and they upcharge for malt). I am not sure it was even mixed well because towards the end I was getting plain vanilla.
The fries were pretty good. I am particular about fries and these were perfectly balanced between crunch and chew. Staff is nice. +1 stars
I assumed that because the long drive through line they'd be spectacular, but I think I'd rather go to Culvers. Which is fine I don't live in the area.
If you big wallets and small stomachs, this is the place to go.
Edit: I guess we know where their money goes to. Martin's bun doesn't; include corn syrup, ok, sure. But corn syrup and sugar are still sugar. It's not any more healthy for you than any other fast food. Does anyone order a shake and go "oh this is healthy because it has sugar in it"? If they do they deserve to be parted with their money.
And Culver's beef is also local Midwest beef. And custard is better than ice cream. And Culvers "spins" their custard multiple times a day. More meaningless jargon to justify their enormous prices.
And notice they didn't mention taste - just "better" ingredients. Well, ok, as a person who can taste differences in brands of white bread, I think I'll take a culvers brioche to the "potato roll" (aka: Brioche with potato flakes - a filler) in them.
So for half the price I got a bigger burger, equally good fries, and a drink. And if I had gotten a malt it would have still been 5 dollars less - and the shake would have tasted like chocolate and malt.
They apparently used to be a Perkins. How the mighty have fallen
Try to make it sound nice and healthy all you want, but it's overpriced junk food and not very good at that.
P.T Barnum said there's a sucker born every minute, and to Shake Shack, the sucker is...
Read moreFor context, I went to the Brookfield, WI location on Saturday, December 17th around 7:15 P.M.
If it weren’t for the delicious Peppermint Chocolate Shake I had, I would give the place 1 star.
This location has 2 drive thru lanes. Initially, we drove through the lane that had the smaller line. Then, after we realized that 3 cars in the other lane went through, it became clear they weren’t using the lane we were in. Therefore, we had to drive around and lost our place in line. There were no orange cones and/or anything on the drive through sign that made it clear that it wasn’t being used.
Then I ordered the shake through the drive thru (Screen should be a little closer to the PA, think it was hard for the person inside to hear what I was ordering, mentioned it about 4 times), then drove up to the window. I handed my gift card over to the person at the window. After attempting to swipe it about 4 times, the person finally asked for assistance from another worker. We waited another 5 minutes for the shake, and at one point, were asked if we could “wait a moment”. I noted all I asked for was a Shake and nothing else. At least 5 shakes were made while we were waiting that wasn’t mine. Eventually, I got the shake and it was good!
It should be noted also that they had some trash bins that were outside of their fenced area where they keep them with boxes on the ground. This place has been open for about a month and maybe some of these issues will clear up with time. It seems that this location rushed to open, but it appears to be a tad dysfunctional with respect to how it’s operated.
I know earlier in the week, they were closed around 7 P.M. one night and I think they’re open until 9 P.M. or so. That being said, there appeared to be a large truck in the back of the place with some folks clearing up what appeared to be an infrastructure issue.
I hope they get these things fixed up soon. It’s a shame they rushed to open to get business in my opinion and didn’t focus on the service...
Read moreI went on the website to order online the day before Father's day. I had a significant order to place but the website does not have a place to say when/what time and date for pickup. It also doesn't have a way to pay with cash when you do a pickup. I then tried to call to place the order over the phone but no one picked up. To talk to a manager press 1 so I did that but still no one answered. After trying 3-4 times during the day and not getting anyone, I decided to go there the next day to just place my order in person. I told the person behind the counter what happened the day before and his response was, "No problem. It's not that big of an order." I then gave him the paper for 7 people's orders. The total came to just over $100. He said to just sit and they will get it ready for us. I started to look at the order and there were somethings missing from the order, like 2 orders of fries, and 2 burgers. I went up to the counter and another lady was there. I told her what happened and she rang up the other food. We did look at the order as much as possible before we left and everything seemed to be there. When we got to our destination I started putting the orders together for each person. Everything was there but one of the burgers was incorrect. My daughter then decided to call and leave a message. One week later and we are still waiting for a call back. I decided to try and call and it was changed so now there is no way to leave a message. Not a good way to have a 1st impression, a 1st time trying Shake Shack. Please be aware of...
