We celebrated Father's Day at Schnitzels. Our reservation was for 5:30; we were greeted by a cheerful young woman who offered us seats at the bar while our table was being cleared. Through the evening I noticed they were quick readying tables between diners.
They have a number of beers on tap in addition to mixed and specialty drinks. I ordered the Schöfferhofer grapefruit while another member of our party enjoyed a mango sangria. Beverages arrived as our table was ready. Perfect timing!
Despite having checked out the menu on their website prior to the reservation, some of us (ok, me) still needed to look over the menu and the specials. The mouth-watering aroma of meals servers carried to other patrons made my decision more difficult. Too many good things from which to choose!
Our guest of honor knew he wanted Sauerbraten while our daughter opted for one of the June specials: a Mystic Lobster Roll. I chose the Wurst Platter.
The Sauerbraten melted in my mouth. The marinade subtle but delicious and the gravy....yum. it was accompanied by red cabbage, spaetzle and mixed vegetables. The portion was huge, so there were leftovers. Our daughter enjoyed her lobster roll, which had a good amount of lobster. And the Wurst Platter? Four good-sized Wurst, red cabbage, sauerkraut, pretzel bites and mustard kept me quiet as I enjoyed each and every bite. I, too, had leftovers because I had to save room for dessert!
We shared a slice of German Chocolate cake and of the Black Forest Cake. What a perfect ending to a wonderful meal.
The owners were charming despite having a busy Father's Day crowd. Storm and Lou welcomed us and made sure everything was perfect. We learned that they will be expanding into the adjacent store front to possibly create a biergarten.
I learned that in addition to delicious food, a skilled staff, wonderful drinks and cozy setting, they have trivia nights and music BINGO. Father's Day they had a Stein holding contest, too!
I'm looking forward...

Plates around us were piled high and looked delicious, and everyone around us seemed to be clearing their plate of comfort food. Same great ambiance, very friendly attentive service. We'll be coming back again and again and again.
My experience is similar to some others. On a recent Thursday night, we were excited to try this new place. There was a healthy crowd, people sitting outside, and the dining room was full so the hostess sat us at the bar. The decor cozy, with heavy, brown wood furniture you might recall having in your 1970's dining room. The comfy seats and casual vibes work with the Bavarian gastropub theme. Nice selection of german beer, and the Hofbrau served in the traditional large glass stein hit the spot.
The disappointment came as the food arrived, which was at best, meh. My wife is a fan of the big pretzel ,with sides of cheese and honey mustard for dipping (I would have preferred a spicy mustard). I ordered the Jagerschnitzel, the first entree listed, presumably because the chef expects it will be one of their 'signature' dishes.
I can't recall having a more tasteless meal. The meat was hot and crispy, though a little tough (I had the pork), but void of flavor. My hope was that the brown mushroom gravy would improve things, but alas, no. Moving on to the spaetzle, it too was just bland. Adding salt (which I rarely feel the need to do) did little to help. The string beans were fine, with the only burst of flavor coming from the ramakin of red cabbage.
The comfortable atmosphere and german vibes are enough to bring me back, but if the food doesn't improve, I'll look to eat elsewhere, or maybe just come in to sit at the bar for a beer and a Bayern-Munich game (hopefully...
Read moreMy husband and I finally were able to try out schnitzel’s! Every time we’ve tried before the wait was insane so we were really happy to get a spot at the bar. Our server/ bartender was friendly and informative. The atmosphere was really good, everyone was enjoying themselves. The music was interesting and honestly wished there was German music playing we watched the playlist and maybe one German song came on during the hour and a half we were there. Overall the food was really delicious and we enjoyed ourselves! We started with the giant pretzel which was warm and fresh. Though It was served with honey spicy mustard which wasn’t great. Then my husband had the sauerbraten and I had the pork rahmschnitzel. Both were super hot and fresh tasting! My husbands only complaint about his was that his didn’t come with red cabbage. I loved my rahmschitzel, It was really crispy and the sauce was delicious. (Though looking at the pictures of the same dish it looks different??) but the flavors were on point. We both wished that It came with more mixed vegetables then green beans. Other pictures showed carrots? I understand this is new restaurant so It takes awhile to find groove.
Now to the big disappointment. We ordered the Black Forest cake for dessert and I’m not sure what happened… but that was NOT Black Forest cake. It looked like a carrot cake but tasted like butterscotch?? It had strawberries on the side instead of cherries and the cake itself tasted nothing like Black Forest cake. I really hope they change that because that was just a shock. We will definitely be back but won’t be ordering...
