Pick up order. I'm vegetarian with limited options. I got the falafel sandwich, strange how it comes with onion sauce instead of tahini (their falafel balls appetizer comes with tahini). Zpita and Mavi Grill's Falafel sandwich also come with tahini. First time I've tried any onion sauce from anywhere and I didn't like it...maybe I just don't onion sauce in general, not sure, but it was a reddish brown color with a strange flavor I can't describe, not sure what else is in it...maybe fermented cabbage or something (?). Thankfully, I had my own tahini at home. The Falafel sandwich was just mediocre, nothing special and I tasted dill flavor in it which I don't like (nothing in the description said dill or I would have asked them to leave it out). Now after eating it, instead of feeling satisfied my stomach feels weird and unsettled. It may be better than it seemed to me, perhaps its because I've had Mavi Grill's Falafel Pita (Mount Sinai) first and that was so shockingly perfect and magical and delicious in comparison, so Zorba's was just blah. Maybe the other dishes at Zorba are better- I don't know - this was my first time trying Zorba and I'm not satisfied and not impressed. I'm actually still hungry also. The chicken souvlaki my mom got was huge - like twice the size. The Falafel sandwich was mostly tomatoes and lettuce so there should be more actual falafel inside because lettuce and tomato are not really filling. The Fries were good though. p.s. My mom said the chicken souvlaki was good but nothing compared to Mavi Grill which is much better - Hands Down, and I...
Read moreI'm glad most of the other reviewers had such a great experience. I'm afraid I was not dazzled.
Part of my heritage is Mediterranean and so (for whatever it is worth) I just know that there are better options out there.
Things I did appreciate about the place are portions, very warm + soft pita for the wraps, and the dolma (grape leaf) were spiced nicely.
Unfortunately, I think the taste, while decent and nothing to sneeze at, just wasn't pulling its full A-game. I've had better Greek food and will continue seeking "my place" in the Greek food game.
Although, I think my biggest concern was in the service. The waitress didn't really seem into her job. Restaurants are asking nicely (some demanding) that us consumers be patient with the skeleton crew they have.
I don't know, despite that sentiment, I guess I expect more from the 40-50 year old server to not act like a teenage girl by ducking behind the bar with another server while they chat and text on their phones. Since I was ignored most of the meal, I was left without water for around three quarters of my dinner. The bus boy took only slightly better care of my party of 2, proving a box for leftovers and extra napkins since I didn't know who else to ask.
Not a stellar example of what a restaurant can do and they weren't that busy. I think there was 5 other tables seated, largest appeared to be 5 or 6 people sitting down. The rest was parties of 2 and one table of 4.
I'd rate it a 2.5 out of 5 if I could. Average at most. A 3 is more accurate than a 2 since half-points are...
Read moreI like this place and the food is good. This is only regarding my experience today. This would be a 5 star across the board except for today. !/20/24 at about 3 p.m. I ordered a medium greek salad and a gyro and 2 souvlakis. I said to the gentleman making my sandwich to "make it good" and he did. I was happy with the way he made it. He heard me and I felt the sandwich was made the way I like it. He gave it to the man who put the vegetables on it and it was good. The young lady (cashier/packer) comes along and writes "gyro" on it and I told her that was for me. The gentleman who made the sandwich said it was for me. She puts it I a bag and I am thinking she is going to set it with the rest of my order and 2 seconds after me and the guy who made the sandwich told her it was for me she turned around and gave it to another customer. I said to her..."we told you that was for me"...Her response was "oh I am sorry etc...." What annoyed me most was that everyone listened except the cashier/packer. She was told specifically and did not pay attention. She took my order and gave it to someone else. The sandwich maker and the salad man get 5 starts. She only gets 2. Why? Because when she was told by me and the sandwich maker...we were all 1-2 feet apart. So she was not paying attention and messed...
