I just moved up here from Long Island and this is the first time I've ever been to a Jersey Mike's. I was blown away by the cheesesteak sub. Best I've ever had. It was refreshing to see real cold cuts being sliced to order for once, unlike Subway. I watched other people's subs being made while I waited for my hot subs to be cooked and was impressed by the sheer amount of meat that was being put on them. You'd expect that at a NYC or LI deli, not a sub shop franchise in upstate NY (considering that all of the places I've been in my town really skimp on stuff).
They're pricey. I understand it with the sandwiches, you pay for quality and quantity. But the bottles/cans of soda and chips are way overpriced. The staff was really nice and helpful, even while the place was swamped with customers. BTW, a French Au Jou would have gone great with the cheesesteak. Just sayin'. I miss Quizno's, lol. There's also no way to get rewards points unless you order...
Read moreMy sister and her husband picked up a takeout order the other night on their way home from a difficult trip to the hospital in Syracuse. They had ordered 2 vegetarian mushroom subs and when they got home, they found the subs they received were cheese steaks. When they called, they were told they could not correct the order or issue a refund unless they returned with the incorrect order. My sister was unable to return until the following evening and both the manager and the entire crew treated her horribly and acted as if she was the one in the wrong. She was able to get a refund for the incorrect subs, but the way these people treated her was so upsetting, that she left in tears. No matter what the circumstances, it is both unprofessional and inexcusable to treat a customer in that manner, especially when the restaurant staff were the ones who made the mistake. Her experience has inspired me to never do business...
Read moreI had never been to a Jersey Mike's before. The only positive comment I can make about the subs were the soft rolls despite the fact they were white rolls. We were never asked what type of roll we would like. Subways ALWAYS asks what type of roll you would like. We weren't initially aware that there were 3 choices. After we ordered and we're eating our less than stellar subs, we heard other servers ask customers what type of roll they would like for their subs. Our server just automatically made them on white rolls ... which we wouldn't have ordered had we known there were choices. He clearly dropped the ball. Moreover, the "regular" size sub would be comsidered small at Subways. On top of this, they were ridiculously priced. The ho hum quality could not compensate for the very overpriced subs. So much for Jersey Mike's. Never again. We will stick with Subways ... A superior product at a much more reasonable price....
