I want to preface my review by saying that I love Applebee's. It's me and my co-workers go-to place to unwind after work, between the half off apps and the ever changing cycle of new drinks, it's always a fun and comfortable spot to hang out and spend some cash. Were happy to give our business to a chain that appeals to the things that we collectively value: a casual atmosphere, affordable food and beverage and friendly staff that makes the customer feel accommodated.
Well, tonight my coworkers and I visited the Liverpool Applebee's off Route 31. I had the bone-in wings on my mind while ordering, and asked if I could split up the flavors of the wings, to which the waitress said 'sure.' I ordered half buffalo and for my other half decided to try the new Asian sauce. The buffalo was great, but the Asian wasnt my style, although I could see why Applebee's had added it to their menu, these folks know their stuff.
When I recieved my bill, I noticed that I had been charged for two orders of wings, and when I brought it to my waitresses attention, she informed me that 'you ordered two sets of wings,' to which I reminded her that I had asked if i was able to separate the flavors of my wings, and she had approved it. The waitress gave me a stare and repeated 'well you didnt say anything when you got the wings so theres nothing I can do.'
Now I understand that i was given two orders of wings, but why am I in charge of knowing the serving sizes of their dishes? Especially after explicitly asking permission to split the wing flavors up. Not to mention, the wings were delivered on two separate plates, which I figured was because the kitchen didnt want to have the different flavors touch each other; seemed like common sense.
The waitress talks to the manager and comes back and informs me 'yep, nothing we can do,' to which I request to speak to the manager. The manager comes out and repeats the same sentiment as the waitress, even after I calmly explain the situation. When the manager insists that i had ordered two orders of wings, I again said that I had asked to split one order of wings into two flavors (and I've done this a few times before, this wasnt an unprecedented request,) and the manager says 'fine,' and walks away annoyed.
Folks, its not like my friends and I are obvious trash that are looking to scam Applebees out of 6 dollars. My bill was 66 dollars regardless, I'm spending money there. For the management to give me this much hassle and pushback really turned me off to that location. I've never been a person who says 'I've spent thousands at that place! How dare they!?' But in all reality, its straight up insulting to have to argue my way into getting a false charge off my bill. My party is always polite and courteous, so theres no reason to have to negotiate with two separate employees over a simple misunderstanding.
I'm still going to give Applebee's my business, but I'm definitely going to always avoid the Liverpool Route 31 location and I'll urge everyone I know to go to the Erie Boulevard location or the North Syracuse location instead of giving their business the Liverpool one. I've never, ever written a negative review for anything online before, and you can check my history to confirm that, but my experience tonight at Applebees warented this response.
I'd like to hear back from you, Applebee's, mostly to say thanks for the good times and partly to confirm that you have read my input and will make changes to rectify this smudge on an otherwise perfect...
Read moreIf I could give less than a "one", I would. Stopped in on the road for a quick bite. Commercials make their food look appetizing. Was ignored at the entry for five minutes or so til I sat myself at the bar, was given a menu and the beer I asked for, and had that entire beer before someone asked me what I might like to order. Waited a ridiculous amount of time after placing my order for a chicken tenders with fries (thought I'd order something "quick".... but it took nearly 45 mins to come out to me...). I could barely choke it down it was so awful. Chicken tenders hard as a rock and dry as a bone, literally like breaded shoe leather. I could have used them for hockey pucks. Fries cold and absolutely drowned in salt. And despite it being a 14 dollar "platter", came out with about enough food for a 4 year old. As awful as it was, I didn't want more. And sure didn't want to wait another hour for a different meal. I overheard several customers being told the restaurant was "shorthanded". One group looked fairly annoyed at their really long wait. And another party ended up with a free dessert because of some problem with their meal, or their wait, I don't know. I understand trying to work shorthanded but it wasn't even busy in there. Really, like two tables and two people at the bar. The servers were doing the best they could, but it looked like they were responsible for the bar, the tables, bussing, take out orders, and I wouldn't be surprised if maybe they were cooking in between orders too. Too few staff doing the work of a whole shift... I felt bad for them, actually. But the quality of the food I got, man, just terrible. Makes me wonder if they had anyone working in the kitchen, or if the cleaning personnel were cooking for them.... Could have went next door to Burger King and had a better meal for half the price and a fraction of the wait. Hadn't been in an Applebees in quite some time, and I think I just reminded myself why. Will be a very long time before I go into any Applebees again, if ever. Definitely...
Read moreMy wife called to let the manager know that the food that we ordered got us very sick and he was persistent in saying That the food did NOT get us sick because apparently food poisoning happens 24 hours after eating Food. He was very unprofessional with her and did not offer a credit or refund or anything like that to keep the customer coming back. We both had to take a day off of work today and he apologize for us being sick and said that we probably ate something the day before that made us sick today Like how dare you insult my wife and then just apologize and act like it’s not your food. Just baffled on how they treat their customers and cannot make it right we Come in there frequently, and after today’s experience will not be going back. The chicken tenders were very old tasting like they’ve been sitting under a heater for half the day. Scott, the manager was very rude and disrespectful to my wife. You’ve lost my family and friends from ever coming back. You need to do right next time and not blame everyone else’s mistakes but your staff and restaurant. Kind of weird when that’s the only thing you eat yesterday that made you very sick you have to call into work and miss a days pay for bill of 75$ and to not eat the next day. But we’re making it up? Next time somebody calls and has a problem, I would definitely either refund or give them a credit to want them to come back an apology only goes so far Especially when there’s no meaning behind it doubting me and my wife’s sickness is beyond ridiculous. And then to blame it on Something else that you ate before this day when that was the only thing we ate that whole entire day !! Do better or you’re not gonna have any customers I know that you’ve only lost a couple meaningful customers, but by the end of the day you should act like a manager and do better. Very disrespectful to do to an...
