We happened to be in Clifton Park for an appointment and decided to stop by what we used to know as The Harbor House for a slightly early fish fry/seafood dinner. As we drove up to the restaurant, we noticed that it was now under new ownership and was called Eddie F's New England Seafood. So we pulled into the parking lot and I grabbed my phone and made a quick search to see what people were saying about this new place. We found out pretty quickly that it was the same type of restaurant as the former favorite and we'd still be able to enjoy a fish/seafood dinner like we were looking forward to, so we said "why not!" Well... We're really happy that we did! The wait staff is very friendly and professional and extremely helpful with explaining where their fish and seafood are from. Our server Lexie (sp?) told us that their lobster is always from Maine, the fresh fish and seafood are New England Coast caught and brought in daily (except for the shrimp and oysters, which are from the Gulf Coast - as they should be). We didn't try the lobster rolls this time because we'd been looking forward to some fried fish, but many of the reviews that we looked at prior to going in, raved about them and we'll definitely be going back to try them another time. We both ordered the fried haddock basket that came with two of their house made sides. I got the fries and macaroni salad and my husband had the onion rings and coleslaw. The breaded haddock pieces were beautiful! Firm, flaky white fish that's hand breaded with a nicely seasoned New England style coating and fried to perfection. The fries were done just right and the macaroni salad was freshly made and very tasty. Hubby's fish was the same and his onion rings and coleslaw were also delicious. Our fish, fries and onion rings arrived fresh and piping hot from the fryer and the salads were nicely chilled. The portions are very generous! Main dish prices range from about $10 for a dinner salad with meat or seafood to $30 for the Maine lobster roll. That might sound a bit steep, but based on one that I saw being brought to another table, they're huge and piled high with big chunks of fresh lobster. I did a little checking and to be fair, a standard lobster roll in Ogonquit Maine STARTS at around $35 right now! (5/30/24) Overall, we had a fresh and delicious seafood meal in a very clean, spacious, nicely decorated and very welcoming restaurant, with excellent, friendly service! What could be better?! Highly recommend!! They also have a flagship Saratoga Springs location that we'll likely try as well, since it's closer to home. (Note: The only reason that I didn't give a full five star rating on the food, is because it was our first time eating at this restaurant and we haven't had a chance to try more of what they have to offer... yet. This could certainly change after we've been there a few more times.)

Shoestring onion rings? Well, at least the soup was fantastic. Was pretty excited for this dinner thinking about it more or less all week long as my one cheat meal, so when Friday came around I ordered ahead of time over the phone for take out. Going with an order of a Caesar salad, the lobster bisque, and the calamari basket. It was all ready within 10-12 minutes and the cashier I dealt with, Christina, was super friendly and processed my payment lightning fast. In total I did end up paying $47, which I felt was a tad pricy, but maybe the food would be worth it? Well once home I dug into everything, starting with the soup which was amazing! I could have eaten an entire bowl of the stuff and still had room for more. The salad was equally great, with just the right amount of shredded cheese and the included dressing was also the perfect amount to cover everything after a few tosses. And then I came to the calamari basket, in which I went with the side of onion rings and french fries. My first point was that the onion ring were shoestring and very sweet, and sadly were pretty lightly fried so they were all soft. The fries were also pretty under fried, their color was pale and had a far more distingue raw potato texture and flavor. The calamari itself was actually fried very well, but it was so bland. I really needed the marinara sauce for dipping, because it had zero seasoning. Overall I felt like the container for the calamari basket didn't work for what it was holding, it was a kind of paper box that began to deform because the fried food filled it with steam. Which ended up just steaming itself, making what should have been crispy into soggy. In the end accounting for the price, the service, and the food quality I would give this a 3.5 out of 5, but google doesn't do half stars so I'm rounding up to 4.

A group of 6 of us on our way to a ghost tour in Saratoga, made early reservations at Eddie F's. First time visit for most of us. Our group arrived over the course of about 10 minutes. I was the 4th to arrive. Our server, Jessica, was super friendly and attentive. She got everyone their drink orders as they arrived then took the folks who wanted appetizers their orders asap. Apps came out hot and without any delay. (Apps included fried shrimp, blackened scallops & chowder} While waiting on the apps, she took our dinner orders including one to go. All the while, Jessica made sure if we needed any more drinks or anything. We are a pretty jovial group and Jessica fit right in with us. Dinners came out-we had a vast arrange of food from the fish fry roll, lobster rolls (hot and cold), scallops, chowder and shrimp. Well, everyone dug in, and you could hear a pin drop as we were too busy feeding our faces. (ha ha) Just like the apps, everything was hot and fresh. (except of course the items that should be cold} I got the fish fry roll with onion rings and coleslaw. Fish fry was huge. It was fresh and light-not greasy nor did it have a lot of coating which i like. The onion rings were homemade-would almost call them onion ring straws. They were slamming. I enjoyed the coleslaw-just enough mayo without it drowning in it. Everyone in our group agreed one of the best meals we had in a long time. The location, food and service was super-duper. My bff kept eyeing my fish fry as she got the lobster roll-all i heard was "we gotta come back and I'm getting that fish fry." To top it off, the guys spotted the ice cream window on our way out-so they had to enjoy a scoop before we left. The rest of us were way too full to partake this time. I would highly recommend Eddie F's. If you go, I hope Jessica is your server. She was a hoot and a really sweet gal. Make sure to bring your...
