Decided to try Mister Chen’s after having been to all the other Asian food spots on this street and was disappointed. Wonton soup was insanely salty - dumplings were better than other places though. Beef and broccoli was mid - beef sauce tasted more sour than other places and less rich/savory. The pan fried pork buns were pretty flavorless and not worth $9.95 for 4. The only redeeming item was the Chinese sausage fried rice. It was good and that would prob be the only item I come back for. The overall price for all four of these items was $54~

Excellent authentic northern Chinese food. Steamed Juicy buns is a must try. Wonton broth is also authentic (time consuming), made w dried flat fish. Garlic w Chinese veges. Salt and pepper shrimps in a fusion style. Beef noodles soup is good too. Surprising to find good traditional Chinese food in upstate New York. If you’re ordering from this place, avoid the American Chinese dishes on the menu. Try the REAL Chinese dishes. Enjoy!

Pretty bad, burnt and dry Kung Pao chicken. Brown sauce in Broccoli and chicken dish had fishy taste. Soup dumplings were pierced. Even the edamame was overcooked. We’ve had times when food was good, but unfortunately they are inconsistent. Too bad, area needs a decent Chinese restaurant.

We were there this evening. Have been there many times since it opened. Food is amazing. Always amazing. Bartender is great. It’s the service that seems to be the consistent problem. No manager ever working there. Waiters are inexperienced and it shows.

Tonight a bunch of things were off.

  1. Air conditioning did not work on a 88 degree evening. We should have left, but stayed and sweat it out. You can’t call on a Sunday for an emergency AC issue? Strange.

  2. my wife called yday and spoke with a young woman and made a reservation for 5 people. Discussed having a round table and all. We got there - no reservation in the system. And the restaurant was nearly empty. 4 tables were occupied.

  3. the oddest thing - we had a decent waiter to start. All the food came out and he never came back. No one checked in. No one came at end of meal as we sat there with a table full of dirty plates. We waited and waited while waiters talked with each other by the bar. I got up and asked where our waiter was - they told me he had left 20 minutes earlier. Never came by. Never connected us with another waiter.

The bus staff here is amazing. They work hard. They constantly refill water. The wait staff here is the problem. Inexperienced and unprofessional. For a high end restaurant, they could do a lot better. No management there. No manager. Never in the 5-6x we have gone. Sunday night is the Super Bowl night for Chinese restaurants. You can do better.

We will give it one more try. We love their food - but they have to step up on the service side. I asked for the manager’s or owner’s email. They wouldn’t provide it on the way out. “We don’t have it”. So I will leave all my comments in a...

This is a first - writing a review about a restaurant dedicated to Chinese cuisine... but it was so good, I have to share. First thing you'll notice is the atmosphere and cleanliness. Tall ceilings, very cool dining room which is super clean with great lighting and worthwhile utensils, etc. Utensils may not seem like a big deal but there are only so many plastic forks, spoons and cheap chopsticks one can bare! The dumplings are actually made from scratch and you can taste it with the first bite. We had eggplant and chicken in garlic sauce and baby bok choy & tofu in sauce. Both were just about the best we've ever had. It's also worth mentioning that the rice was hot and also cooked perfectly. Even the water is worth mentioning which (I am pretty sure) was NOT tap water. Regarding staff, we felt immediately welcome and the staff was very attentive to anything we asked. We will definitely be going back. When every single Chinese restaurant you can find is essentially some version of "fast food" American style, Mister Chen Express is a welcome and refreshing establishment to visit. This is now our only...

1/25/21 Sorry, but I cannot amend my review because I ordered Chicken Chow Mein with Brown Sauce and your worker at the register took my order and did not correct me or advise that you don't have Chicken Chow Mein so I believed that I received the order and I stand by the expense and that is was was not satisfactory. Again, nothing ordered was tasteful in any way for the cost. Thank you. Well, for tasteless Chinese take out food it was very expensive, $$$$$. In addition, the Chicken Chow Mein had to be the worse Chicken Chow Mein my Dad and I have ever had. Hardly NO chicken, DRY as a bone and I have no idea what kind of noodles was in there, just horrible and had to throw it out. I also ordered boneless spare ribs and specifically ask that they put extra sauce so they were not dry because I knew I would have to rewarm them when I got home and sure enough, NO extra sauce and the ribs were overcooked and dry. $50 for chicken chow mein, boneless ribs and 2 spring rolls and everything was horrible. Won't see me...
