Very happy first time eating here.
We would occasionally order from the express next door but was never super impressed. But the in person food experience was much better.
We tried the crab which was delicious (5/5)! Fried and seasoned well. Biggest complaint was the lack of spiciness. Lobster+Pork dumpings were delicious, but would probably stick with the solo pork next time. The house fried rice was also a (5/5), great variety and it was seasoned well! Chinese sausage was a great addition. Way better than some of the fried rices we got from Chen Express and other local spots (but that might also be due to mixing some bites with the crab toppings). Spring roll was okay but would probably skip (3/5).
They unforunately have no dessert but have a decent cocktail list and a great bar in front. The restaurant filled up as time went on, but was maybe at 50 - 75% full for a Saturday night. Service was pretty slow but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt since it...
Read moreThe BAD: Service/Table:The tables and chairs are too close together that it was hard for us to get in the table. And they were so hesitant to move it even though it was so obvious we couldn’t get in literally! We had to instruct them how to improve the seating. Food: the grand Marnier shrimp was good but the broccoli was so undercooked. We asked to steam it a but more but it still came back a bit raw. The pecking duck wrapper was Mexican tortilla wrapper. It’s supposed to be thin wrapper for pecking duck. Drinks: we ordered a pink dragon slayer with dragonfruit but it tasted bitter and sour. I think they used grapefruit not dragonfruit. And No desserts available.
The GOOD: soup dumplings were good but the individual serving ladle was for a soup serving spoon, it’s too big to have that in your mouth to eat a dumpling! But the taste is good. The grand marnier and orange chicken was good and the noodles and...

The decor and prices DO NOT reflect the quality or taste of the food they are serving. NO DIFFERENCE between Mr. Chen Seafood restaurant next door and the Mr. Chen Express.
Food isn't fresh, like it has been microwaved or fried multiple times. Now seeing their recent NYS Health Department review, we now know why we felt sick afterwards.
We've ordered take out for family and had dinner with friends the other night and to say it's mediocre is far too generous. But it's part of the neighborhood and you want to give them a chance.
Not "authentic Chinese" or whatever they are selling and why are the dishes so gloopy saucy and like old oil tasting? Like they reused or did not clean the cooking oil.
