Well, at least the Chicken Tenders are still good . . . Service at Tully's Fairmount has never been what I would consider good -- adequate is about as much as we ever used to hope for. However, the last two times we've been there, the service has been unacceptably bad. The time before last, we had to get up and go find a server to help us after waiting at the table at least ten to fifteen minutes after being seated. The service did not improve thereafter. Nevertheless, we tried again a couple weeks later. And still, nothing improved. When all five people in your party have an empty drink cup (the first ones served, no less, not even empty refills) and all of those are lined up at the end of the table, in front of a pile of empty appetizer plates, and it's been at least 20 minutes, and other servers and even managers walk by without either noticing or solving the problem, and then your SERVER walks by, and you have to literally call out to them to notice the situation, get you drink refills and clear the appetizer plates -- there's a real problem. My wife works at Red Robin Township 5 and that would NEVER happen there. Mind you, the restaurant was not super busy -- in fact our server was doing sidework at a nearby table IN PLAIN EYESIGHT of us. I also have to comment on the food. I ordered the 6 oz steak and tenders dinner for $15. If anybody read the recent review of Gordon Ramsay's steak frittes where the reviewer received a small handful of french fries and a scrap of meat, well, this really wasn't much different other than the addition of three tenders. My 6 oz steak was about 2 in wide by 4 in Long by 3/4 of an inch thick. Barely a morsel. I ordered the salt potatoes, and received exactly three potatoes smaller than a golf ball. Adjoining this were three chicken tenders and a tiny cup of coleslaw. I was not bowled over, although the food was admittedly tasty. After all our experiences, we will not be dining in again at the Tully's...
Read moreAlthough many people gather here to watch sporting events on TV, the main reason to come is that the restaurant serves excellent food. Try "the best chicken tenders you'll ever eat" (a direct quote from my daughter). They come with a honey/mustard dipping sauce, but you may also want to try them with Buffalo wing sauce. They can be ordered as a main dish, or as a 3-piece side with any meal. An additional option is to order the skirt steak and chicken tender dinner special with potato (mashed or fries) and coleslaw. It's a delicious meal for a very reasonable price. Other favorites include the Firehouse burger (a cheeseburger topped with chopped jalapenos) and the grilled cheese sandwich (the size of two sandwiches) Another great thing about eating here is that you get complementary popcorn while waiting for your order to be prepared. The servers are friendly and efficient, and the manager, Allen, does an excellent job maintaining quality control over all aspects of the restaurant. UPDATE-1: Ordered two new dishes this visit. I ordered a BLT and my wife ordered a meatball sub. Both were excellent. We also shared a delicious side of chicken tenders. UPDATE-2: The chili with tortilla chips was very good. UPDATE-3: The chicken quesadilla is a filling meal. The chicken is just as tender as that used to make the chicken tenders. You might want to ask for some hot sauce or jalapeno peppers to give it a bit of a kick. UPDATE-4: The restaurant was not at its best today. The buffalo wing sauce had no heat, the grilled cheese sandwich was perfectly toasted, but the cheese was not as good as it's been in the past, and they've discontinued steamed broccoli as a vegetable choice. Hope they bring the broccoli back soon. I did enjoy the tuna macaroni salad. UPDATE-5: This restaurant probably has the best landscaping of any restaurant in the area. Nice attention to detail in all aspects of...
Read moreTully's in Fairmount definitely deserves a shout-out for keeping up with the rising demand for all things...Tenders 😉 during a pandemic. Sometimes it feels like I'm trying to win a call-in contest on the radio when trying to get through on a Friday or Saturday night 😲 because they are soo busy, but somehow, they still get our order ready in a more than appropriate amount of time. And, during pick up, they're organized, friendly, and never seem rushed. This has been our experience with Tully's in Fairmount for years, so we're always happy to give them our business, especially now. They consistently provide great service in house as well, which is evident from their continued customer support during a pandemic! The friendly, easy-going atmosphere created by the staff makes it easy for diners to relax and enjoy a meal with friends or family, which is greatly appreciated when so many are feeling anxious about dining out. It must be very difficult to work in such a busy restaurant while keeping up with the increase in safety guidelines and customer care, but this staff doesn't seem to have missed a beat. Thanks for doing a great job when we need...
