Elsie's Luncheonette — Restaurant in Town of Goshen

I rarely write bad reviews, but its been months since I visited here and this place still haunts me. My friends and I visited on a Sunday morning and were introduced with blank stares from the staff. Our server looked like she wasn’t interested in serving us and didn’t even know the menu. We asked for Philly cheesesteaks and she told us that don’t have that. So we ordered burgers instead. Later on she tells us they do have cheesesteaks so if we wanted it we can have it. She soon returns to tell us that they can’t find the meat for a cheesesteak. After a hour of going back n forth and considering about to get up and leave. She returns with two, tasteless philly cheesesteaks, and my Bacon Cheeseburger deluxe, which was just a burger on a roll with one piece of bacon. I asked for lettuce tomato and onion so I can add it to my burger and she came back with one tomato slice and 3 pieces of onion lol, I can’t make this up. This is hands down the worst place I’ve been too and I have no idea where all of these other good reviews are...

Adorable place. Went in for breakfast Sunday around 10:30. Menu looked great but I'm boring and get the same, predictable Taylor ham on a roll. My companion really enjoyed the pancakes.

Staff was very attentive, which was nice until, halfway through a second cup of coffee we were asked to leave because "people are waiting for the table"

As this is a small place, I get that turnover is important but neither of us has EVER been asked to leave like this.

As we walked out, there were two parties waiting. We had not spent an inordinate amount of time and it was not even close to lunch time.

I have waited for tables many times, when I felt it was worth it, moved on to another restaurant when I felt that it wasn't. But I would have been APPALLED to know that other diners were ejected to make room for me.

I may have caught it in a bad day but this was not a good experience. I had just finished a scary test that I had to fast for so I was hungry when I arrived. I asked for decaf tea and got decaf coffee. I told the waitress it was ok. I ordered my omelet and waited. The cook was cooking bacon on the grill and put my omelet on right next to it. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t state I was a vegetarian before I ordered. When my omelet was done he put it on the counter and there it sat. He was also finishing up a to go order that was rung up immediately. I had to tell the waitress my omelet was sitting there. So I did two stars because the plate was plentiful and the prices are reasonable. Other than that the place was mediocre clean and the bathroom is in the basement down a grease laden staircase.
