I just edited this post because I just found out that Paris Baguette (pounced ppa-ri bah-get in Korean) opened up in the lot next to Hmart.
My Korean students said paris baguette was legit. Wife and I tried them and if want authentic Korean bakery experience, you should try Paris Baguette (or any other tous les jours in NJ or flushing).
I am hoping that the Hartsdale Tous Les Jours will put some effort into training their employees to actually make Korean bakery products now that there is competition.
Below is my old review of Tous Les Jours in the Hmart.
This place used to be great years ago. As another Korean, I really wanted to support a local Korean business. But after waiting for the past 2 years for them to fix, and seeing that the folks who bake the cakes have no idea what an actual Korean ì©íŹëŠŒ (white creme) is supposed to taste like, I wanted to leave a review in hopes that the manager lady would realize how off the mark their creme is.
They seem to have lost all of their actual Korean bakers. That would be fine if the non-korean workers actually knew what korean cakes taste like. Korean cakes are french-inspired with ridiculously light cream. The creme here now taste very heavy. I used to get cakes here and bring it to work (8 to 5 years ago), and all of my non-korean coworkers marveled at how light the creme tasted.
Went to Korea and Japan over the summer and I enjoyed the Asian bakery cakes... when I came home, I tried a cake from this tour les jours, hoping they figured it out... the creme was again overly rich (almost like butter cream, than whipped cream).
Also, the consistency of the creme is off. Their creme is so off that at room temp it quickly starts to fall apart and turn into liquid. You get their cake and take off the plastic outer trim, and within 5 minutes the cake starts to, "melt" and get droopy. If you look at some of the positive posts on here with photos of cakes, you will see that the cake isn't holding its shape. This is NOT normal for a Korean cake. Tous les jours cakes from Flushing or NJ do not do this.
I actually make the 35 minute drive down to Closter, NJ to pick up cakes from their Tous Les Jours.
The problem is, non Koreans who have never had real Korean bakery cake have mo idea and think the creme is fine. But this place is a westchester 7 out of 10 at best, and if they tried to sell these bakery items in Korea town flushing or NJ, no one would buy them.
I just noticed Paris Baguette (the other Korean bakery that is a competitor to tous les jours)is opening in the same plaza as Hmart. I can't wait until they are open and actually serve real Korean...
Read moreI will start saying the quality of their food is great. I go almost once a week for boba tea with the kid I babysit and once in a while with my daughters. The cakes are so good that Iâve purchase 4 cakes in less than a month since our birthdays are so close so⊠I got the last cake yesterday and I will say the service and the employees are not always good unfortunately. Yesterday I went to buy a cheesecake since my youngest daughter loves their cheesecakes there were two girls and when I asked if there was any cheesecake available since I couldnât see anything on sight one of the girls told me with attitude no we donât have anymore the other one said let me ask inside and she came back with the news that there was more but while I was waiting we talked about the fact that it was for a birthday and their cheesecake looks plain so she suggested to put fruit on the top so she ran to the back and request it for me meanwhile the nasty girl run to the phone and called someone asking how much extra she should charged me for the berries they were going to put on the top so she came to me and said you have to pay $6 for both cheesecakes and I said no I just order one and when I tried to explained she cut me off and said whatever so the other girl(the nice one) tried to also explained to her that the other cheesecake was for them to have it on display and she was like not interested to hear anything so she said you have to pay $3 for the berries they will put on top. I think you could be a little more welcoming with costumers because the nasty girl called someone in a higher position so it doesnât matter how good your product is if you will treat costumers with so...
Read moreHad a terrible service experience today. I tried to find a corporate or franchise number to elevate my complaint but I guess their is none. I stopped by today 10/16 at around 6pm and ordered a taro bubble tea and pineapple bubble tea. Immediately I got a bad vibe from the start as The cashier girl taking my order was singing inappropriate song lyrics in Spanish as she was taking my order, no greeting or eye contact. Rude. There was a young guy making the drinks. He handed me a gray drink that was clearly not my order and I was about to take a drink out of it when he told me to give it back and he was laughing with the two other girls working. I think his intention was to give me a disgusting drink and he intended for me to leave the store with it but he didnât realize I had a second drink coming. He handed me both of my drinks and was laughing. No apology or anything. I always come and get bubble tea as itâs my favorite place in westchester. Iâm extremely disappointed and wonât be returning if thatâs the type of staff they are hiring. Just young dumb and inexperienced. They should have a specific number to call and give feedback or complaints. Will be leaving a review on yelp as well and calling the store for a manager in...
