Dinner for a party of 4, with no reservations and reasonable wait time. We wanted a booth and we got one in 10-15 minutes. The general atmosphere was busy, but I guess, we got there just in time before the dinner rush arrived.
My party and I decided to order a variety of dishes to try on our first visit.
For starters, we ordered spring rolls and summer rolls as our appetizers. Honestly, I did not love both, the spring was better than the summer rolls, but if I had to choose, it be the spring rolls. I’ve never had summer rolls with duck sauce? (I am not sure what the orange sauce was but it threw me off from traditional peanut sauce.)
Appetizers were just ok, I would pass on it the next we go and start with the entrees.
For main course, we decided on a few items off their menu:
The beef pho chicken fried rice hot pot: catfish and salmon chicken stir fry noodles
Beef pho was pieces of beef strips rather than the thinly sliced steaks that I’m used to, broth was flavorful but not my all time favorite; the pho was good. Hot pot catfish/salmon was more golden in color and sweet, but I’m used to seeing it more brown than caramel in color, but overall was good, although I would consider trying something else next time. Fried rice was perfect but interestingly enough, the taste was not far off from the flavors of the stir fry chicken; it just felt like the rice was substituted with noodles, but both were good.
We decided to try halo halo, as our dessert. I am a bit confused the use of “halo halo.” I’ve only heard of halo halo being used by filipinos but I get that many Asian cuisines have a variation of it, but isn’t the dessert known as Chè Ba Màu? In Vietnam? Just the thought I had as I was in eating it. I love trying all and this one was good.
Overall the quality of food, service, and wait time were great . It’s so far the better Vietnamese I’ve had in Westchester.
I will be back on a cold winter day, unless I find something better closer to home but I’m...
Read moreVietnam central is an outstanding family friendly restaurant. If you are looking for very good Vietnamese food, friendly staff and clean place, THIS IS THE PLACE!!! My family and friends enjoyed our visit in this very nice restaurant. The staff were so friendly, especially Tom ( the owner of the place) who was so warm and constantly checked on us to make sure that we were satisfied with our food. He was also very friendly with the kids. I love the Pho with porkchop. The soup base was so yummy, not salty but very tasty, just perfect! My husband also enjoyed his spicy beef soup and the chicken fried rice. He even gave us his special spicy sauce to try. My kids loved the grilled pork chop! Tom said he marinated the meat for 4 days, that's why it was SOOO GOOD!!! They even have the Halo Halo which is a dessert, which we ordered, of course. It was an interesting and yummy treat to end a very good meal. The price was very reasonable. We will definitely go back to this place! Thank you Tom and to all your staff for a very good first time experience at Vietnam...
