Mason's Grille 52 — Restaurant in Town of Hamburg

My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner here on June 8 2017 for our wedding on the June 10. We went in and booked the room about a year in advance, and from that day forward Tina was always there to help us or to plan for that night whenever we needed her. Closer to the event we went in to go over what our menu selections would be. Tina helped us to select a few options to form a variety of choices. We ended up choosing some options off of an old menu, as well as their current one, and it wasn't an issue at all! Tina always made sure to tell us we could select anything we wanted even if it was not on their menu, because as long as they had enough prior notice they could make it happen! Our selections ended up being a cheese and cracker platter and a bruschetta bread for our appetizers, both of which were set out when everyone was arriving on the two long tables we had set up for our guests. For our meal choices, everyone had the option of a soup or a salad, even those choosing a sandwich (we paid extra per plate to make sure everyone had this option because we didn't want some people to be enjoying a soup or salad while others were not; and we also did not want someone to feel funny about ordering one as an addition to their meal), and then our guests had the choice between several meal options, ranging from salads, sandwiches, and dinners.

The day of the dinner my husband and I arrived before we went to the church for the rehearsal to drop some things off and our room was already set up and looked great! Tina made sure to say hello and wish us luck before we left!

When we arrived for the actual dinner, the appetizers were on the tables like we planned and each plate had a personalized printed menu from the menu options we had selected. No prices were on the menu as we didn't want our guests to be swayed by prices for what they chose to eat as we were picking up the bill.

The service was fantastic, the drinks were flowing, and the food was amazing as well! Everyone was pleased with their choices and we didn't have any complaints! Tina and her crew made sure that this was a special night for us and we never felt rushed out or that we were waiting forever for food. Went on a Wednesday evening, the dining room was almost completely empty except for one table at that point and the waitress decided to sit us right next to that table, it was very uncomfortable, there's no music or anything so the dining room is completely silent and all we could hear was the conversation of the table next to us, we didn't feel comfortable at all even talking to each other at a normal volume, so we were whispering, finally I asked her if we could eat in the bar instead. It was much more comfortable in there, with blues music providing some background sound. The place got busy pretty quick and there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant. We waited almost 1 hour for our food. The food was great, home cooked comfort food, flavorful,.. the braised short ribs fell apart, super tender, flavorful gravy, the mashed potatoes were very creamy. The pot pie was also great with a nice thick creamy sauce , although there could have been more carrots. When we were finished eating and ready to leave I ordered a piece of carrot cake to go, for the waitress to bring back with the bill.... over 15 minutes passed before she finally came back, and that was only after we had stood up and made it obvious that we were in a rush to go and even approached the bartender to try to cash out. So plan on being there for a long time, takes forever to get your food and takes forever to get your bill. Carrot cake was not good. If you're expecting a moist cake filled with raisins and walnuts and carrot with a thick rich cream cheese frosting, you will be sorely disappointed! My husband and I just had dinner and I was very disappointed. I have been here before and enjoyed the food .Definitely not today it was terrible. First we started with an appetizer it was the special banana pepper dip with homemade chips. It was suppose to be meatless that's what it said on menu I am not a big fan of meat appetizers well when it came I noticed meat in it I told the waitress she said she would check she came back and said the chef/ cook added meat to it why ???? It was suppose to be meatlessthats why we got it my husband said he would eat it i did not.Then came my dinner choice roast beef on weck it said it was slow roasted top round what a lie it was terrible it was definitely not top round it was more like some kind of pre made deli meat it was terrible no taste shoe leather. My husband had the tuna he said it was good he got mashed potatoes and asked for gravy the waitress said they had no gravy if you slow roasted a top round you would have gravy right ? That did not make sense to me I was very disappointed it was like an Arby's roasted beef the waitress said she wouldn't charge for appetizer which was appropriate.
