Croxleyâs used to the best sports bar in town, now itâs a mere dumpster fire.
The waiter Byron was very slow and confused with everything from drinks to food to taking our order and the place wasnât that crowded. Sweet kid, but needs more training of the menu and how to take care of guests in a timely manner. There was no excuse to be that slow on a quiet Saturday afternoon. Iâve been here before on football Sundays when the place is packed outside the door and Iâve received better service.
Secondly, the food was pitiful. The French Dip Swiss had some foul odor/tasting cheese coated on top of some very very thin strips of meat that looked white and grey. I was okay with swapping that for another meal and that was the Sheppardâs Pie. The Sheppardâs Pie was very bland, flavorless, burnt on top and swimming in some vile gravy. It was highly unappetizing to look at it, let alone consume. The wings were overcooked and burnt to a crisp and the tacos were also flavorless. Four meals and they couldnât get one of them right on a very slow day. On the flip side, the French Onion Soup and Onion Rings were barely above average, which brought my star rating up from a 1 to a 2.
The young girl at the check in desk was glued to her phone from start to finish while we ate, while the kitchen kept putting bag after bag of to go orders behind her. These bags sat there for 30+ minutes with nobody coming to pick them up. When I went up to her to bring my concerns to the kitchen, since there wasnât a manager in sight, she appeared very bothered and mumbled âIâll let them know,â and went back to being glued to her phone. Not a very good look for what used to be a very fine and professional establishment. (This encounter alone me back to leaving 1 star rather than a generous 2 star review)
Croxleyâs used to be the best sports bar back in the day and the food was beyond stellar. Now, the food is inedible and the service is lackluster. Very disappointing.
(Also, the waiter Byron said he would take off the French Dip & Swiss since I took two bites of it and was appalled, yet left it on the check and had to remind him...
Read moreI eat at different croxlys all the time this has been my worst experience so far. First the waitress kept asking me questions I already gave her the answer to to the point I was getting pissed but didn't wanna yell I was out with my family. Next she try to play me cause I am a big guy I guess don't know if it was intentional but I had asked for a coke she then goes "diet coke? " lady I know you heard me correctly it wasn't that loud, I then get the drink and it tasted horrible don't know if it was diet anyways or it was just bad but I had to have em take it back. Then I already pointed out to my family since I worked at restaurants and hotels that if the place was poorly lit and dimmed it's cause the food was bad... And I was correct, I always eat all my food especially at croxlys I couldn't even finish my fries and the only reason I ate my meal was cause I haven't eaten anything since breakfast but anyways I ordered boneless wings with Asian Sauce or whatever and the chicken was overcooked to the point the chicken was hard wouldn't b surprised if they microwaved it and then they covered it in sauce and I know another member ordered mussels and it didn't taste on point either meaning it had no flavor or taste. The burger was decent and juicy but I've had better. We all had a bad taste in our mouth about this place when we left and I can say the only other goood thing was the two hosts, very nice very conforting and helped us everytime we got. I get followed by other croxlys online plan on sharing this post to...
Read moreCroxleys is one of the OG bars on Long Island, and it's been around for such a long time for a reason. Great food, and VERY plentiful beers on tap. When I visited today, the place was relatively slow, only maybe around 20 people in the whole place. And while they were playing some good music, the volume was REASONABLE. My friend and I could carry on a conversation without having to yell or raise our voices. (nothing sucks as much as having to punctuate every sentence with "WHAT?!" because you couldn't hear the other person.) (acoustics have NEVER been Croxleys strong point.) With that said, the food was excellent. I had a BBQ burger, and my friend had the Croxleys burger, and both were cooked to perfection. The fries were ON POINT, and the zucchini sticks appetizer was really really good! Drinks included items like a pumpkin ale (perfect for the season,) and a pineapple cider (or something like that.) The service was very good, since, despite the restaurant being "slow" (not a lot of customers,) the waite staff was attentive, quick AND ACCURATE with our orders, and didn't interrupt excessively while still checking up on us. Overall A VERY good experience. I'm happy to see it quieter there (because their wings are AMAZING!!!) (Seriously! You should go there for their wings. They're phenomenal!) The only thing that could make them better is if they had a blender and made more boutique mixed drinks. Such potential, but still: a VERY...
