⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 – Halal Munchies: The Chicken Over Rice You Dream About

My wife and I are always on the hunt for flavorful, satisfying comfort food that hits the spot—and Halal Munchies completely blew us away. If you’re craving that classic NYC-style halal plate with a bold twist, this is your place. Their chicken over rice isn’t just good—it’s next-level.

We stopped by for a late lunch, and the smell alone as we walked up had us excited. The line was moving quickly, and the guy at the counter was super friendly, answered all our questions, and even gave a little recommendation on sauce combos. You could tell they were proud of what they served, and rightly so.

We both ordered the chicken over rice, and let me just say: this is what halal food is meant to be. The portion size was generous—plenty of food to fill you up (and maybe even enough for leftovers, if you’re not a big eater). The chicken was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned—spiced just right, with a deep, smoky flavor that you could taste in every bite. No dry or bland meat here—this was marinated to perfection.

The rice was fluffy and flavorful on its own, a nice balance to the boldness of the chicken. Topped with a fresh mix of lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers, the plate had that perfect contrast of hot and cold, crispy and tender. But what really took it over the top? The sauces. That signature white sauce was creamy and cool, and the hot sauce—oh man. It was the real deal. Spicy, but not just heat for the sake of it—it had flavor. A little goes a long way, but I kept coming back for more.

We also added a side of falafel and were glad we did. Crispy on the outside, soft and herby on the inside—some of the best we’ve had, and we’ve eaten a lot of falafel. Everything tasted fresh and cooked to order, which really showed in the quality.

Service was fast, the food was hot, and everything was packed neatly. There’s a sense of care here that you don’t always get with quick-service places. Even though it’s casual, you can tell they take pride in every plate.

We both agreed that this will be a regular spot for us. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick lunch, late-night craving, or something to take home and devour in front of Netflix, Halal Munchies delivers. Flavor, freshness, value—it’s all here.

If you’re reading this and wondering if you should try it—stop wondering and just go. And don’t forget to ask for both sauces....

I have been going here since it was in n out. That said i have been noticing an increasing amount of negative things that bother me (every time i walk in) and i am never going back. If you dont care about anything other than the taste of food disregard this review(i gave them 2 stars because the food is good). But everything else is awful: 1-when a regular customer walks in and explains what they want DO NOT LOOK AT THEM LIKE YOU DONT UNDERSTAND!!! I have dealt with this numerous times at this place and ever since they changed to halal munchees this has been an issue…and its infuriating! Its not like im asking for something off the menu-when i ask for lamb over rice and the person behind the counter not only looks at me confused, but then guilts me (with dirty looks) because they do not understand thats a big problem on your part! 2-dont be cheap with the extra sauces or make believe like you dont understand! Again-this was never an issue when it was in n out 3-service time is spotty (usually have to wait awhile for no apparent reason and every so often its fast)-never the case when it was in n out) You lost a regular...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had an amazing experience at Halal Munchies last night! The guy taking my order was so nice and went above and beyond, making my food with extra care and consideration. You can really tell he takes pride in what he does and makes sure every customer is happy.

The seating at this location is the best I’ve seen — clean, comfortable, and perfect for sitting down and enjoying your food. They also have a wide variety of options and are open to customizing, which makes the experience even better.

I ordered a Combo Over Rice (no salad, no side, spicy rice, white & green sauce, half pita) and a Combo Over Rice with extra protein and falafel (no salad, no side, spicy rice, white & hot sauce, half pita) — and both were absolutely delicious. On top of that, I added fries directly onto the platter — and I was the first customer to do it this way! It came out perfect and really showed how flexible and creative they can be with orders.

Generous portions, amazing flavors, and incredible service — highly recommend Halal Munchies if you want top-quality food with great vibes! It was my first time at...

I deducted 1 star mostly for getting rid of the “sweet green” sauce which is/was the best !! The biz name change over may have taken some steps to minimize and glorify. The fries used to be SOO good and since the name change / fry change I don’t even order the fries anymore. Also have had stale pita with platter. So now I recommend lamb or combo platter with the hummus as the side. I also only get cucumber salad no lettuce. So platters are good. Philly cheesesteak was lack luster not enough cheese and the meat not juicy. I really love this place and I still eat here it just slightly changed and I was enjoying the original quality and consistency under the previous name in and our grill. Amazing falafel. Juicy lamb and generous portions. Onion rings are good too. The guys are SO nice, the amazing friendly staff are so sweet I just wish the company kept the sweet green sauce.

Probably the closest Gyro place in Lynbrook? I had been put off the gyro and halal places over in Valley Stream as all looked as though basic hygiene was an after thought. No place has made me ill, but they don't fill you with confidence. This spot was brought to my attention on my most recent visit here and thankfully as you can see in the pix was clean, spotless. Chicken/meat over rice here in any are what they are and pretty similar taste wise wherever you go. The portions here are very generous and the salad is fresh. They have their own in house sauces that make their food slightly unique also. Lastly the team working in the back were very friendly. I was given testers of all the sauces to try which was very kind of them also. Hopefully this place is still around when I'm next here as it'll be our go to

I've had their chicken over rice which is decent - comparable to anywhere else really but you don't need to trek all the way to hillside etc for a decent chicken/lamb over rice now. Tried their Philly cheese steak today - it was no Philly cheesesteak. It was a chopped up burger patty with onions and pepper. Very little cheese. I won't lie and say it was awful. If you wanted to eat a burger this way it's a nice change but please don't call it a Philly cheesesteak. I dare not try another halal place unfortunately because I think any place that does chicken/lamb over rice will serve something similar. Plenty of space to eat inside and a good selection of drinks. Service was decent. My order was nicely wrapped though the wait was around 15 minutes.
