My wife and I booked a private room at Izumi Levittown in May for a 3pm Saturday afternoon communion party of approximately 35 people. We left a $100 deposit for the room and were given an approximate price for the lunch special package. We were told by the restaurant to be there promptly at 3pm as we only had the room for 2 hours and there was likely going to be a party booked after ours. After arriving on time, we were told that we would have to wait for an unspecified amount of time as the party before us was running late. We were made to wait with our 30+ guests for over 40 minutes in the front of the restaurant which was embarrassing to say the least. Additionally, communication was terrible and we were only told that the other party was “still taking pictures”. When we were finally seated, we were told that we would be ordering from the dinner menu as the “lunch special” ended at 2:45. The dinner price was nearly double. When we told the manager we had booked the party with the lunch special she stated that she doesn’t know why anyone would have booked our party with the lunch special and all but out right called us liars. Additionally, she was extremely rude, unprofessional and unwilling to make any sort of exception or compromise despite the fact that our party had already been delayed for 40+ minutes. We were unfortunately stuck in the bad situation and ended up paying the dinner price for the party. The food was on par with our previous experiences at Izumi, but I would highly recommend staying away from Izumi for large groups and pre-booked parties as they are clearly unreliable, un reputable, and unwilling to make any sort of compromise or attempt to fix a situation that was their fault. I’ll conclude with the fact that I have never left a poor google or yelp review that I can remember but that this experience with Izumi management was so terrible and embarrassing I feel the...
Read moreTook my family (8 ppl) to dinner to celebrate our daughter's birthday. She enjoyed her sushi while the rest of us had hibachi. The chef seemed to be still training bc he made a few mistakes. Like not having enough noodles for those who requested noodles only. He also broke an egg on the dining table in front of my sister. Which he didnt clean up well as it landed right in front of her, and the risk of salmonella was in my head the entire time. He also missed the mark when trying to toss food into the boys mouths... but that didnt spoil the fun. The food was not something i would ever return for. The protein was fresh but lacked any flavor. I had a ginger martini. It wasn't great, no ginger taste except for the large slices they had floating, which also made it awkward to drink. The kids did enjoy the balloon animals the chef made after the meal, and the staff came out with the cake we brought to take pictures for us and cut and serve it. That was a great touch since we didn't have to awkwardly cut and serve our own cake. But I think that may have been due to the fact that it was a GIANT kitchen knife, and they probably didn't want the risk of us doing it and getting cut. My son did throw up at the table while we were getting ready to leave, and they were very helpful and understanding. Overall, it wasn't the food that would ever bring me back, but the cooking show was great for the kids, and the atmosphere was good, fun, and clean and the staff was attentive and helpful. Very appropriate for our kids'...
Read moreBEWARE!!!! I am truly upset at the way I was treated at this establishment. I have been eating here regularly since it opened years ago. I recently was there for dinner and unfortunately had a large piece of steel wool on my shrimp. Luckily I felt it in my mouth and was able to remove it before swallowing, honestly at first I was just glad it wasn’t a hair. I returned since it is a convenient location for lunch. This time I had a large piece of a glass like substance in my sushi, almost cracking my tooth as I bit down on it. I spit out my food and placed it aside and showed my waitress. This is where things became evident to me I would never return. The waitress took my plate and then the manager came over and said that it was the crunchy in my crunchy tuna roll. I said no, it was a piece of glass or something just as hard. They kept arguing with me and my friend with me witnessed this piece of glass like thing on my plate after I spit it out. Extremely rude, condescending and unprofessional service. I have never experienced such horrible low class behavior before in my life. I will be contacting corporate as well about this. I would have taken photos, but I never thought this would escalate to such an absurd situation on behalf of the staff at this location....
