Lighthouse Diner — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

Food is ok . Ordered the special in the photo, came with 1 shrimp and a large piece of spinach pie. I chose Manhattan clam chowder which was very good but could benefit from some other veggies. Now is where the issue begins, the waiter Matthew, came around and saw that we were finished eating. He grabs our plates and tells us be right back with the check. We look at each other" saying I guess he is assuming we do not want anything else" but he quickly walks away. He comes back a few minutes later with the check. We ask doesnt mine come with a piece of cake?? He responds "Oh, that's a misprint but Il give it to you" Comes back with a menu for me to pick and walks away He comes back for my order and states again " That's a misprint but I'm going to give it to you" " No other lunch special has that on it"as he walks away.I told him if it was a misprint it could easily be fixed with some white out. FYI,If your company knowingly has a misprint on there menu, especially one that could easily be corrected, and they choose not to correct it, do not try to quickly give me my check hoping I dont remember what came with my meal, and then tell me multiple times it's a misprint but Il give it to you. Fix the menu or offer the cake. Instead, you just annoyed a customer who will never come back and will never recomend...

Very disappointed. Unpleasant STAFF. Lets begin with the Appetizers. The wings, mozzarella sticks and Matzoh ball soup were good.

Burgers were dry and Hot open brisket was horrible. Not to mention the gravy tasted like canned chef boyardee beef ravioli sauce. It was not a gravy and had a reddish tint to it.

When I told the waiter I didn't like the Brisket and ate a few bites of the bread around it he took the whole platter back to kitchen. I thought he was going to show a manager. The potatoes were dry and clumpy as well and broccoli was just that. Just a steamed plain broccoli. No flavor, no taste.

Upon reviewing the bill. They charged 21.95 for the brisket. I spoke to Maria at the register, who wasn't pleasant at all. If whole meal was thrown out, why was I being charged for a meal I didn't like nor ate? They could have left it on table for someone else to try it or even take home. Just because It wasn't my taste, doesn't mean that someone else at the table might have tried it and liked it. Not to mention the stares I recieved by staff, while I was explaining to "Maria" how dissatisfied We were.

No apologies from anyone either.

I dine out frequently and know good quality of food. Gordon Ramsey would have a field day with this...

Went here last night. Waiter was nice, service was okay (it’s difficult to be fast when a table of 12 ordered ahead of us). That isn’t at all the problem though. To continue, I kept my order somewhat simple. Belgium waffle with a fried egg on top and bacon. When I was eating that egg, something felt off about the taste. I get home last night and had massive diarrhea. That isn’t the worst part. Today I wake up and I have food poisoning (chills, diarrhea, nausea, etc). I feel bad writing this review (because I like small businesses and they go up against a lot), but I really don’t want people to go through what I am going through right now. There are plenty of diners on Long Island (a lot of them better than this). PLEASE DON’T EAT HERE FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH!

Edit: So I just got out of the hospital. 4 days suffering at home and 5 days getting better at the hospital with antibiotics. I had pancolitis due to food poisoning. I’m not 100% recovered but I’m doing better. Still have to be very careful with what I eat or drink as I had a flare-up last night. It’s unbelievable that 1 meal can affect me for who knows how long. STAY SAFE OUT...
