The bakeries communication was poor regarding my request. I provided a picture but definitely did not get what I asked for. They cut one layer of cake into three of the thinest layers I've ever seen and put loads of filling and icing, for it to only amount to a 2-3 inch tall cake. I also did not receive the filling i asked for. All you could taste was filling and icing because it was barely any cake. When I picked up the cake, they claimed this is how an average cake is done, yet i explained what i wanted when I placed the order.
It was not worth the money.
Updated: 6/14/24 - Don't try to gaslight me. I have the emails of my request. I was clear and repetitive in the specifics of what I wanted. What I received is not what I asked for. I also most definitely was NOT offered a refund. Maybe if you spent more time working on your listening, communication, and truth telling skills, you wouldn't have a one-star review to defend with a lie.
I've been going to Sapienza since before I could see over the counter, and I'm 46 now. The quality has severely declined over the years, and now it's evident that the customer service is at an all time low.
Updated:7/4/24 - The image of what I sent you with the exception of the flowers, is the only change I asked for. NOT a 2-3 inch height cake, similar to a sheet cake. One layer was split into the three of the THINEST LAYERS and loading up with frosting and filling(not the filling I asked for). That was ridiculous! Additionally, ruining it for the birthday girl. If anyone reads your 1-2 star reviews, they actually sound VERY similar to my experience. Keep telling your lies if you think it makes you look better.
The day I returned the cake with questions about the size, I was met with attitude & lack of customer service. With that being said I will no longer be spending money in support of your business....
Read moreLast night I had the fortunate experience of getting a free tasting of some of the delicious pastries made at the Sapienza Bake Shop. The owner of the shop came to a wonderful event/fundraiser hosted by Lev Layzan (Compassionate Clown Alley)that was intended to raise money and awareness of this amazing organization. He shared with us, the story of how his Italian family (from Sicily) came to open Sapenzas's bakery and how he ultimately decided to make it kosher. He also generously shared with us, his secrets for making truly delicious and authentic Italian Cannolis. I thoroughly enjoyed every thing I sampled, but the stand out item for me was the french custard filled cream puff with the vanilla glazed topping (there was a chocolate version that was yummy too, but I am more of a vanilla fan). As a person who keeps a strictly kosher diet, I don't frequently get to taste high quality bakery items that are dairy and that delectable. These are a must try item that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who is reading this review. The other pastries that I had tried were also yummy, and I am sure there is an abundance of cookies, cakes and pastries that I will fall in love with as well when I make my way over to the shop, which I plan to do very soon. Please join me. This authentic Kosher Italian bakery is...
Read moreMy daughter bought me a birthday cake here the other day. I asked her to make sure it was a white or yellow cake with strawberry filling and white butter cream frosting. Well people... I had been feigning for this cake for over a month. Kudos to my child for finding this excellent Bakery. I'm including a Pic but let me describe my experience with you. Firstly the presentation was absolutely beautiful. It was iced perfectly and had real strawberries dotted around the top. When I cut into into it, it had two giant layers of pale yellow cake and a thick filling of strawberry with thick white butter cream icing. (I fainted a little). OK, so the filling was so decadent. It had real chopped strawberries in it and it was just the perfect amount of sweetness. The cake also had just the right amount of sweetness and nice and moist. The butter cream frosting was silky and melted in my mouth. The strawberries on the top were glazed and they were sweet and I could cut them with my fork! In conclusion, I will buy all my cakes from Sapienza Bake Shop as long as I can. As a matter of fact, I will buy my birthday cake here even when it's not my...
