Union Place Coffee Roasters — Restaurant in Town of Henrietta

We buy coffee regularly, 2 lbs every 2 weeks. In fact I filled the card today, and the employee that I’ve seen multiple times and is very helpful made a comment about it and asked if we wanted a coffee (which he always does). My husband asked for an americano (which we pay for) And the response by the older gentleman, who we’ve never seen before, was “there’s no espresso”- to which his coworker seemed as confused as us, as this is a coffee roaster. So he clarified that he had already cleaned the espresso machine as they were closing in 10 minutes. We have an espresso machine at home and know “cleaning” the filter basket is not that labor intensive. If your a coffee roaster/shop and open til 3- shouldn’t you offer your customers the coffee they want til 3? Especially when they just spent almost $40 on beans…again? Maybe business is that good that customer service isn’t a priority. Or was this just a poor show of hospitality by 1 new employee? We live in the city and normally drive past several good roasters even though your prices went up considerably in the last year to buy at Union place, but will have to think twice next time if it’s worth it to not even be able to get an...

I’ve been to this shop twice - both times I have been welcomed and served by Nick. My first visit was to buy beans for my daily brew at home. I went with the Breakfast Blend to get my feet wet. Nick offered a cup in house but it was late afternoon, so I passed. The morning after my purchase I stumbled into the kitchen and groggily opened the bag of beans - noticing immediately that had been roasted just days prior and was deliciously fresh. My second visit was to stop in for a coffee made in house. By recommendation from Nick I tried an iced shaken espresso, which was made with love and craft. The espresso was smooth and flavorful, there was no bitterness or burnt taste. It was delicious! I did not have any food, and took away my order - but the space is large and welcoming with plenty of seating. Everything at this establishment is very clean - the shelves were dust free, waste bins were empty, and the doors and windows were fingerprint free. I've never actually been to the location yet. I live a couple hours away but i was online searching for local coffee roasters and i found Union Place online and I had to try them! So I picked out a bag just to give them a try. I ordered a bag of Jamaican Me Crazy and within a few days of placing my order there was a package delivered on my steps. Now I wasn't expecting my coffee to come so quickly so I was pleasantly surprised. The box was bigger than i was anticipating since I only ordered one bag of coffee. I opened the box to find a hand written note inside thanking me for my order and to say they gave me a free bag of coffee. They included a second pound of coffee for free! I've gotten samples from other places before but never a full bag and the shipping speed was amazing. I'm brewing a pot of coffee right now so I can't comment on the taste yet but it sure smells amazing! Thank you!
