Henrietta will soon be my 2nd home, as my son will be coming to college here, so I went back and forth with reviews trying to decide on a hotel for our recent visit as I had previously stayed here and wanted to try something different. However, I finally decided to stay here again because I didn’t recall any issues and the variety of hotel reviews were just stressing me out so I want to be thorough on this review and hope it helps ease the stress for you.
I last stayed in August, and this stay was in late January. Upon arrival, the check-in process was easy, as I’m a Hilton Honors member and can check in on the app and head straight to my room. However, since I arrived early, I stopped at the front desk to make sure everything was good to go, and it was. Unfortunately, the hotel was handling a flooding issue from a burst pipe due to cold weather. Fortunately, my room wasn't affected.
The room was clean as i recalled, though I noticed some dust around the fridge, AC/heat unit, and bed frames. The bed was comfortable and clean with crisp white bedding, no stains and the bathroom good. As for breakfast, I don’t understand the complaints—there was a good variety, including cereals, fruits, muffins, eggs, sausage, and waffles. The coffee was great, and I loved the chocolate muffin. Sofia was running the kitchen, and she was super friendly and on top of replenishing items and cleaning the area.
Komal at the front desk was helpful from before i arrived in calling and speaking with her to request early check-in and again upon check out with billing. Housekeeping was responsive when we needed replenishments. The staff was consistently friendly and professional. Parking was plentiful, and the location is convenient, with RIT just 5-8 minutes away. Nearby dining options we like are Shake Shack across the street for on the go convenience, Tully's and Carmen’s Cooking, a Puerto Rican restaurant, which serves fresh, made-to-order Puerto Rican food, run by a friendly family. Highly recommend trying this place out, as it’s affordable, delicious, and offers both dine-in and takeout options.
To address some complaints that I saw online: We stayed on the 4th floor, and we had no issues with noise from the HVAC system. As with any hotel, there were occasionally louder guests, but that’s not a problem for us as long as it doesn’t get out of hand. People are on vacation and having fun, and it didn’t disrupt our sleep. It’s just a hit or miss depending on the guests you’re sharing the hotel with, and that’s common everywhere. Regarding cleanliness, I did notice some crumbs on the floor at times. This is expected since people drop snacks, and housekeeping can’t be everywhere at once. I did see staff actively working to maintain the areas, so this wasn’t a huge issue for me. The hotel overall is a bit dated, but it’s still in good condition compared to some of the negative reviews I’ve read. One thing I’d suggest for improvement, especially if renovations are in the works, is to install safes in the rooms. That’s something I noticed wasn’t available and would have been a useful addition.
Overall, I had a great stay, and I’ll continue to choose this hotel for future visits. The combination of a convenient location, friendly staff, and good amenities makes it a top...
Read moreIck. I'm not usually one to leave a negative review, but the handling (or lack there of) of my stay was atrocious. First and foremost - Bedbugs! 5 confirmed adult bugs found and squished in room 305 on 7/7/2025. On first sight this place seems like any other Hampton Inn, but I woke up on the first night with a bug on my shoulder. I thought it was a tick so dispatched it and flushed it, but then I found 3 more, looked up what bedbugs looks like and wouldn't-ya-know it...a lot like ticks. Unfortunately, I had opened my suitcase on the carpet and nothing was safe at that point. The night attendant moved me to a different room for the remainder of the night and there was literal blood on the handrail in the shower in the new room. So then I think back at other issues: the lobby and hallways had no A/C and felt damp, the doors to the breakfast area appeared broken, the elevator was slow, water pressure was low in the showers; all things that are minor until they get added up with bedbugs. When I informed the night attendant that they had bedbugs he was very calm about moving me to another room for the rest of that night. I would have expected some sort of reaction to that news but he was very blase about the whole thing. He "wrote a note to the site manager" and refunded me the room. I checked out early in the morning and called the site manager several times throughout the week but he has not deemed it important enough to call me back and was never "in" when I called at various times of day. To avoid bringing bedbugs home to my family, I had to spend an evening in a laundromat and purchase new luggage and throw out my perfectly fine Samsonite roller bag that retails for nearly $200 because I had no way to sufficiently clean it. My clothes are damaged, I had to spend my own money on laundry and new luggage, I lost hours dealing with it all, and then spent an entire week itching from the bites. The hotel staff couldn't be bothered about any of it so I wonder how many other folks are unwittingly picking up hitchhiker bugs. I will never be back to...
Read moreI've stayed at this hotel at least twice at this point and have had nothing but good experiences. The check in/out process is very quick and easy. It took me about 1 minute to check in and get my room key, and check out just required me saying "I'd like to check out. An emailed receipt works fine" and then I left.
Most of the hotel is very nice, clean and modern, including the hallways, lobby, breakfast area and rooms. The elevators tend to be very slow for just 5 floors and some of the designs were tarnished which looked really ugly.
The room was very nice and spacious. I believe I booked a normal room but ended up getting a giant mirror and two different sink areas as well as a couch and long desk. The TV was nice and there was a fine number of channels, but nothing special. The bathroom and sink area were separate and were both very nice. The entire room was clean and well maintained and felt very modern.
I paid for the premium internet and it was good most of the time, but it seemed that at peak time (9-11 PM) the speed took a pretty big hit which was pretty annoying because watching any videos in 1080p became very difficult.
The breakfast wasn't bad. I was there for two breakfasts and the lineup was slightly different which was nice and something I usually don't see at free hotel breakfasts. The scrambled eggs (present both times) seem like they might actually be real instead of powdered and are seasoned just enough to taste good and not be super bland. There was small round sausages and home fries/potatoes one morning and the other morning there were sausage patties instead; both were good enough but not great. The cups for juice and water are very tiny which prompted several trips to the drink area. There was some fruit and small pastries. The pastries were good but the pineapple didn't look ripe so I didn't try it. They also had a waffle maker. I think there were bagels and two types of not-so-sugary cereal. Overall the selection is a little small but there was food there right up until close. So you'll get fed there just isn't a...
