Update on Bobby Smith’s Review: First of all what I wrote here, DID in fact actually happen. Bobby Smith can’t say it didn’t, when he wasn’t here when it happened. Don’t know why he’s saying it didn’t. Not right!
Came here with a group of special needs young adults. I work with one of the people that go to these meet-ups as her staff. A bunch of us had called ahead of time to make sure that they were alright with doing separate checks and they had told each one of us on the phone that they were good with it. We have these dinner meet-ups on Friday nights with this group and go to different restaurants all over. Each place we’ve ever visited have been super accommodating and understanding with this groups needs. We’ve always been able to do separate checks without a problem and if a place told us beforehand that they couldn’t do it, they wed end up picking a different place. It’s never been a problem till tonight. Came here with my client and the rest of the group and was first told that they couldn’t do separate checks, and then spoke to a waiter (Sean) and he said he couldn’t definitely help us out and do separate checks to accommodate their needs. We were pleased and get a little worried at the same time. Apparently, the manager had already told one of them in the group (not all of us) that he could NOT accommodate us and wouldn’t not allow the separate checks. We were all pretty irritated and upset with this news. Spoke again to the waiter and he reassured us that he made sure that we could in fact do the checks the way we needed to. It was pretty difficult to even get a hold of the manager at times. It’s a loud and busy place and he just was no where to be found at times. Now to fast forward to the end of the night when we finally got our bill. Just to let you know, it took us all over an hr to try and help each person out with their part in the bill and the tip (they also include gratuity). I spoke to the manager politely trying to see if there was anyway he could accommodate us but again he said no and then was really rude. I told him that unfortunately because of this we probably could not return to his restaurant as a group again because this was not only unfair but made our lives so much harder. He told me this...”I don’t need you and “ your kind” here and good riddens”! I was beyond shocked over this and said excuse me that is so wrong and very rude. He didn’t care and said he wasn’t going to accommodate us. Thanks to you we had a lot of upset people to deal with tonight and NO we will never return. I hope you realize that being understanding and accommodating to the needs of people with special needs makes so many lives easier and it makes going out more enjoyable. It also makes people want to come back to your establishment. One Mom of a young adult had actually called to speak to the manager and he wouldn’t even get on the phone. Really disrespectful! We were all pretty miserable tonight. I hope you get a new manager cause this one really...
Read moreWe went in a group of 13 to celebrate a birthday. Our family goes to Hibachi restaurants often, so this is a familiar experience for us, although the first time trying 110. We were very disappointed. First, we arrived early and wanted to get a drink at happy hour. Understandably, it was busy, but there was a system where you could not get a drink until other people who were standing at the side of the bar were seated. After standing there for 25 minutes and asking about ordering twice, we were told “a few minutes.” They appeared understaffed at the bar and the service was unfriendly. I felt ignored with no understanding of how the seating at the bar worked. An added point is that we were a group of mixed races and although I can’t say it was a factor, being a person of color, I felt that “yucky” feeling you get when you feel that if you looked differently, you may have been able to order a drink more timely.
Next, our servers understood minimal English so our orders were not accurate because we could not communicate with them. When we asked for soup that came with the Hibachi meal because they were short, we were told “if you want more soup, pay for it.” We were constantly met with unfriendly responses. I was told that a typical ramen-like noodle was soba noodles. Our drink orders were wrong and at some point, we just accepted it because there was obviously a language barrier. Despite the communication, service was just not friendly. The hibachi chef was energetic and fun. The food was bland and below average. We paid our bill and gratuity in excess of $800, and had a really below average experience.
Even with sub par food, kinder service would go a long way. There is no reason for our family to return to...
Read moreWe had an amazing experience at 110 Japan for my daughter’s birthday!! My daughter saw a picture of a sushi cake on line about2 years ago and has wanted one for her birthday ever since. I decided this was the year we would surprise her with it. I brought the picture into 110 Japan a couple of weeks before to ask if they could accommodate this request. Sonny, immediately said, no problem! We discussed the types of sushi rolls my daughter would enjoy, as a guideline, and then left the rest up to the sushi chef to do his magic. The result was UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Not only was every bite of sushi absolutely delicious, but the sushi cake was truly a work of art!!! Everyone was in awe of its beauty! The “toppings” included multi colored fish eggs, edible flowers, sashimi flowers, all perfectly placed on a 3 tier sushi cake. My daughter was over the moon happy with this surprise and 110 Japan made her birthday wish come true! Our waitress ( who was a sweetheart!!) knew the cake was a surprise and brought it to the table with an entourage of other staff members, who presented a light up birthday crown, sparklers, photo frames and a big drum to announce the cakes arrival. A huge birthday success from start to finish!! Thank you so much to the amazing team at 110 Japan for your hard work in making my daughter’s birthday perfect in every way!! We are very grateful and can’t wait to come back soon! Highly recommend this restaurant for fantastic sushi and if you don’t eat sushi , the other food on the menu is just as delicious! You will love it! 5 stars and wish I could give them 10!! Thank...
