Just dreadful is the most generous thing I can say about this place. We came here for dinner recently, at approximately 8:30, ninety minutes before closing, primarily because my wife thought the smells coming from the kitchen outside were inviting. Walking in the door, the place is very bright and nicely decorated. The guys behind the pizza counter were welcoming and the pizza looked fresh from where we stood. A waitress led us to the dining room, off to the left and past a bar. The bar was unoccupied, and apparently was where the staff hung out when they were not busy. There was a jacket thrown on the bar along with a cell phone and some other unattended personal belongings. One jacket was on the back of another chair a few feet from the other jacket.
We were seated and a bus boy brought us water quickly. The waitress was by soon after and was pleasant enough. One thing that we noticed when we walked in was that there were several tables that were not bussd and had dirty dishes on them along with some scraps on the floor. We figured we were just behind a rush and were glad we didnt have to wait. The app, came out pretty quickly and was tasty. It was also very hot, obviously right out of the fryer. So far so good. Our dinners took another 30 minutes to be delivered. We could have chalked it up to a busy kitchen but at that point there were just 4 tables with patrons, and everyone had their food. As we sat waiting for dinner, a few of the remaining guests left their tables and at that point we realized that the bus boys were no longer clearing tables. They left piles of dirty dishes and food on every used table in the dining room. Not one time did anyone clear ANY of the empty tables nor did anyone take away our appetizer plates or salad bowls.
Our food arrived and we were pleased to have received generous portions. Unfortunately the food was cold. Not an exaggeration, it was COLD. I dont enjoy smoking hot food and usually prefer it to cool a bit, but these dishes had been forgotten to die on the pass while the waitress was nowhere to be found. While we would consider neither meal to be bad, they weren't really special. Not especially well made or flavorful. Remarkably, at one point, I went to the restroom and walked past 2 employees sitting at different empty tables across from the pizza counter playing on their phones. In my world if they have time to lean, they have time to clean and it just seemed that the staff was content to lock the doors before cleaning up for the night. Or perhaps, leaving the mess for the morning crew.
It was so disappointing that there was no manager or anyone who cared about anything going on in this business. We see no reason to ever to return and really cant...
Read moreWe went to the Gino’s on Jericho Turnpike in Commack last Friday night. Our family was in from out of state to celebrate one of our sibling’s birthday the next day. So we wanted to get together and have dinner. My sister who lives on Long Island suggested Gino’s because she had been there before and she said the food and service was good. Our waitress was Roseanne when she came over to the table she did not look pleased in having a party of 13 people. while she was taking our drink orders, I had asked her if it was possible to have separate checks. Which would have been only three checks because we were three different families. She said to me that she’s not allowed to do separate checks on Friday and Saturday because they’re so busy. We got there at 7 PM and the restaurant was not very busy. She took our drink orders and I asked her for sugar three times and she failed to give it to me. A family member had to go up to the counter to get me my sugar. My family member that was with me had a margarita which I believe Roseanne made had no ice in it and it was warm. It seemed to be any time you asked her for something she was annoyed. We left the restaurant at 9:30 and by that time there was nobody in the restaurant and she really could’ve given us separate checks that night. She just handed us one big check Even when I had asked her in the beginning, if she could check with the manager about the separate checks and she seemed to totally ignore us. I feel like Roseanne knew she was getting the 20% gratuity regardless if she gave us good service or not however, if she would’ve given us better service, she would’ve gotten an extra tip. My entire party when we walked out all said the same thing that she was miserable Was not interested in doing her job and clearly irritated with the large party. The food was was OK the atmosphere on the restaurants OK would I go back to Gino’s probably not and my family members probably will not go back either because of the service that we received and ok food. Our family had come from out of state in June and we went to a different Italian restaurant Patrizo’s had a larger party and the waitress was so accommodating in giving the separate checks and...
Read moreDecided to go there for dinner with my family called ahead and the person the phone told me no need to call ahead just come right in on arrival. We waited 10 minutes at the host stand to be seated. Finally went to host to come over. We told her we were a party of eight and she simply said sorry we cannot accommodate you. I said how long would the wait be? She said Did you call ahead? I said I tried and you told me to come in. She said well we cannot accommodate you.
To speak to the manager like he was in his 20s and clearly had no idea how to run a business he said with an attitude it’ll be about an hour. They clearly had no idea what was happening as a man was making pizzas Instead of running his business.
I’ve been waiting outside about 10 minutes later. I asked what was happening and the manager told me well. Do you want to wait or not? Yes or no and I stated that I told him yes he didn’t started to argue with me. I asked him if he was the owner and he said yes.
I never heard of a restaurant turning away. Customers is pathetic and poor business. Clearly this restaurant will not be in business very long as it’s never really busy. It just happened to be busy on that day. I’ve heard very negative things about This restaurant, but my family insisted we try it if I can give it -100 stars I would with all the restaurants in the area of Commack and really good ones. I will never go back to this place when I caught anybody who does go there from what I’ve heard and what I’ve seen it is a Horrible place to dine at.
The good news is we went to another restaurant in the area had a fantastic experience and spent over $600. The owner of this restaurant should reconsider a different career as he will probably need to do so soon don’t waste your time. For your money, Gino’s in Commack much better options with much...
