I tried this place out last week and I gotta say it was delicious. Everything is made fresh in front of you. This place is a halal version of chipotle but with less options. It’s close to the masjid and Walt Whitman, Huntington high school, that’s good for the masjid people and the high school students. The staff was friendly and made my visit amazing if you follow them on Instagram, scan their QR code and share it they give 10 percent off, and I did exactly that and I got the discount. Since the food was good and they were nice I tipped them 2 dollars. While I was there I ordered the steak bowl with brown rice and I added cheese, guacamole, sour cream, and black beans it was a great combination. I also added iced tea to my meal. The sauces they have easily match the food. It’s nice that this place is open, because we can’t eat chipotle because it’s not halal. I found out that they get their meat from halal and meats and that’s why it’s so fresh and flavorful. It’s much better than using restaurant depot meat because it’s not fresh. I was very happy and I will definitely make another stop and I recommend my friends and family to come here. Overall I give this...
Read moreAlong with the rapid growth of Halal Mexican options on Long Island comes Jalapeno Shack. We ordered the 3-pack of tacos, everything made fresh and in front of us. Despite the value, our overall experience was poor. Start to finish, it took 15 minutes to prepare one order of tacos which really tested our patience. The choices of bases and toppings were nice to see and really built up our expectations along the way. Each taco was filled to the brim and overflowing, so it was near-comical seeing three of them be squished into one burrito bowl as it's main packaging. Biting into each taco, a few things became clear: the ingredients were fresh but not high-quality, the chicken and beef were cooked well but not adequately spiced, and the whole taco was just plain bland. We had balanced expectations for a taqueria and Jalapeno Shack just did...
Read moreFood is not worth the price. Owner thought he was doing the world a favor by offering a $10.99 “lunch special” due to “customer complaints” yet there’s nothing special about an overpriced bowl that’s enough to satisfy a toddler. The lunch special includes just the entree, no drink, no side. I used to be an active customer but noticed the steady decline in portions & service while an uprising increase in prices (contrary to his price reduction).
I went today, the owner gave me a bowl that was 1/4 full and looked so proud while putting 2 tablespoons of rice and 3.5 pieces of chicken, yet still looked ambitiously at me as he asked for a tip. I don’t recommend going here unless you wanna waste your money and be nauseous afterward.Guac Time is an infinitely better alternative and is worth the extra 15...
