We had a GREAT first visit to Mogu for a quick Friday lunch. Everything was delicious and the store is clean, pretty, and comfortable. We were greeted right away when coming in by Andrew (who was AWESOME). When we said we’d not visited yet, he gave us a great fast briefing on the menu and on their style and cooling methods. There are menus you can take to your seat, but the ordering happens at the counter. You can also order right there at the counter, the menu is posted for viewing. We ordered a the regular scallion pancakes, and a chicken King egg roll for appetizers, then pepper steak and tangerine chicken for entrees, both with brown rice. (Egg roll and pepper steak not pictured.) Again, everything was absolutely delicious. And their healthier cooking style was perfect for my wife’s gestational diabetes needs. We assumed she’d still end up with spiked blood sugar after the meal, but it was actually in the perfect zone! She’s NEVER been able to eat Chinese while pregnant without spiking her sugar before. Andrew checked in with us multiple times to make sure everything was good and that we had what we needed. We’ll definitely be back!

I consider myself a Chinese Food connoisseur having grown up in NYC and spending many late nights at Mott Street renowned Chinatown spots as well as the usual everyday Take Out Chinese all across NY and Long Island. So if you're looking for that "type" of food you won't get that here.. What you will get here is a cleaner more pleasant and fresher variety of Chinese Food. I'll never question the quality (or origin) of meats, cleanliness of kitchens and quality of food served here. It is admittedly a taste that will be acquired in more than one visit but now I don't look back at the average old school Column A/B type of take out. My fave is the the Kung Wow! Black Pepper Chicken and the Steamed Dumplings. Dining room is clean and the staff is super friendly. Give it a try, and a chance. You will be pleasantly surprised!

Honestly, I don't know who these people are that are raving about this place, but it's not good. Our usual place was closed (Monday) and figured we would give this place a shot because we really wanted chicken and broccoli and pork fried rice. Well, what a disappointment. We tried a few other things on the menu as well; the wonton soup, pork eggroll and the Mei Fun (spending almost $40). Honestly, Trader Joe has a better tasting frozen Chinese food selection. Portions are small, you can't make any alterations to anything (like if you dont want onions) because everything appears to be ready made and frozen, thawed to order. If I could give it zero stars I would. Only thing I can day I did like was the vinegar ginger sauce for the eggroll.

Second time for takeout at MOGU following an initial visit several years back when they first opened. The Mogu concept is definitely interesting however, if you are an experienced Chinese food devotee you might find the whole experience comes up short. So, on a busy Sunday evening I placed an online order of approximately $100 worth of Mogu apps/entrees. The pictures and food descriptions definitely intrigue you when you're hungry. There are opportunities to "customize" your order and that we did. I gave Mogu a good 35min. heads-up for my order and actually got to the restaurant early. Before I launch into the food I wanted to comment about service BEHIND the counter. Looking into the Mogu kitchen you will note that one side is populated by those making your dinner and the other side separated by a "pass" consists of older HS/young college-aged packers and expediters. On the night I visited it was a frenzy of activity. What shocked me is that it seemed that there mere plenty more than enough folks working the kitchen side AND the expediters/packers. Yet, we know the old adage about too many chefs in the kitchen. There seemed to be a lot of inexperienced packers as evidenced by constant switching of orders and folks were confused, that's for sure. The online ordering system is great and Mogu has a good kiosk system once you get to the restaurant to pick-up your order. That said, the packing leaves a lot to be desired. My large order came in drips and drabs and I waited a full 30 minutes watching a stack of my packaged dishes cooling off (most needed microwave reheating when I arrived home - that's a problem). Secondly, because all the food packers were literally grabbing food as it materialized you know instinctively that there was going to be a huge mistake fulfilling the order. This was realized upon arriving home only to noticed that the chicken egg roll that we got was not labelled correctly by the Mogu staff - it was steak. That's not good. Next, the promised sauces I specified in my order were completely absent. Now, you might suggest that I should have checked my order BEFORE leaving the restaurant and that's a good idea. The trouble is that the packer quadruple stapled my 2 bags shut. I was also concerned that some of my order sat on the counter easily for more than 15 minutes. Not good. The staff is conscientious but they work very fast and not carefully to ensure that your order is correct. In fact, on the evening we ordered food I witnessed 2 customers return to tell the folks behind the counter that they were missing parts of their order. I'm not sure exactly why there were so many different hands on my order but it seems that there needs to be a better organized system. Let's get to the food:

Hot & Sour Soup was WAY too salty Steamed Dumplings with Chili Sauce - AS GOOD AS IT GETS Any dish with steamed veggies has perfectly steamed veggies. Sauteed shrimp was rubbery Other dishes we ordered were nothing above average BUT there was no pool of oil in each dish which is always a good thing.

I'm afraid that I will search for another Chinese restaurant and bypass Mogu in the future. I had high hopes for the place but the formula is not working smoothly on busy nights. I gave them a 2nd chance and they dropped the ball (worse than my first visit).

Finally, personally I try to tip for exemplary service and was given the opportunity to do so when I paid online. Based on this visit I would DEFINITELY not tip for lukewarm food and a mix-up in my order so I'm glad I didn't waste my tip on mediocre customer service....

I recently had the pleasure of ordering catering for a party from MOGU, and I cannot express enough how impressed I was with the exceptional customer service and overall experience. Everything was perfect, making it a memorable event for both me and my guests.

First and foremost, John LaRosa (Catering Director) was an absolute delight to work with. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about helping me create the perfect menu for my party. He patiently listened to my requirements, offered insightful suggestions, and tailored the menu to suit my preferences and budget. His professionalism and prompt responses to my inquiries reassured me that I was in capable hands.

Now, let's talk about the food itself. It was absolutely outstanding! The flavors were delicious, and each dish was prepared to perfection. From appetizers to entrees, everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully packaged!

I would highly recommend catering from MOGU to anyone in search of a seamless, memorable, and truly outstanding culinary experience.

Thank you to John and the entire team for exceeding my expectations and making my party an...
