For being a famous place this was the worst restaurant I have eaten in more than 30 years. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left it was a horrible experience from start to finish. This place was recommended by everyone as being very good because Guy fieri was there and it was very famous for being on Diners Drive-Ins and dives. They must need an update or totally refurbished because again it was the worst place I have ever eaten in the last 30 years. When we finally got a server to take our order we got fish tacos, buffalo chicken tenders and a half of a chicken salad sandwich and a side salad and a cup of spinach soup. You couldn't pick up the fish tacos because it was so soggy they fell apart and had to be eating with fork they didn't even have the coleslaw on it to make them soggy so that left the fish that must have been so greasy that it made the taco shell Fall apart. The buffalo chicken strips only one was eating tell my grandson had food poisoning for the next day and a half of our trip. The chicken salad sandwich for large pieces of chicken and large pieces of celery put between one slice of rye bread. The chicken salad was so dry it had to be scraped off the bread the bread was edible. The salad was a salad the dressing which sounded wonderful(tomato basil vinaigrette) however was not there was no vinaigrette whatsoever and the basil was so overwhelming my salad was ruined and could not be eaten. Last but not least my cup of spinach soup I'm not sure why they called it spinach soup because it only had one piece of spinach laying on top of the soup which had very little flavor at all. Again service was horrendous no one came to check and see if the food was okay if I had any silverware with to eat my food which I did not I had to get up and remove silverware from another table so that I could try to eat. I waited for around 15 minutes to get the attention of our server so I can get a check to leave I could not get the attention of my server so I went to the cash register to check out that way as I was walking to the cash register that girl walked away I waited for about 5 minutes for somebody to ring me out and then I left. so how someone could say this was a wonderful place to eat great food great service I have to wholeheartedly disagree it was one of the most awful dining experiences I've ever had. Maybe Guy Fieri needs to return and...
Read moreDisappointed in the NY diner scene lately. Whoever is cooking doesn't have that old-school diner flare or flavor in their arsenal. Food is sub-par and disappointing for how expensive it is.
Diners used to be affordable and deliciously irresistible. Not anymore. Food comes out cold, dry, and poorly executed/presented. Things are left out of dishes and ingredients are wrong. Wrong types of bread and buns are used for burgers and sandwiches. Dishes feel like they're not cooked with love and are poorly constructed. The portions are large.. but who cares how big they are if the food is underwhelming?
Not typical of the diners I remember. Everything used to be fresh, hot, sensible, seasoned, and well-made. It seems like everyone has forgotten what the purpose of making food for others is all about in the first place.
Fiance ordered a BBQ cheeseburger-medium, simple, right? No. They forgot the BBQ sauce and cooked the burger to death. Patty had no flavor, sweet potato fries were soggy. I had a French dip. Simple, right? No. The bread was huge and awkward, the meat was like beef jerky it was cooked so much, barely any melted cheese and like 2 slivers of sautéed onion on each half. Ridiculous. My sister ordered the sliders as an appetizer--they might as well have been regular sized burgers and they came on giant hard rolls, bigger than the patties, instead of buns. They were also way overcooked and dry, no flavor. Nothing had flavor. Everything was just dull overall. Lets not even mention the bill. So disappointing.
Also, water stains on the ceiling. If it's leaking there is it leaking in the kitchen too? Yuck.
Lately, when we try to treat ourselves with eating out, we're always disappointed. No use giving anyone business anymore since we pay and they don't deliver quality.
Take the trip and go to the 84 diner, they're still doing okay for the most part and sticking to the roots of diner food.
Think I'm done with the old places, time to taste test new restaurants since the old ones are failing. Loyalty will only...
