My wife, son and I went here for the first time and the last. We went for breakfast, nothing crazy. Coffee, OJ, I got short stack pancakes and bacon, wife got eggs Benedict which came with potatoes and son got French toast with 2 scrambled eggs on the side. So to start for a diner, the coffee was not something you wanted a second cup of maybe top off but that’s it. Onto to eggs Benedict which is my wife’s usual order when we go out to breakfast where do I start … the “poached egg” was practically hard-boiled, the hollandaise sauce was definitely not fresh was definitely from a commercialized mix packet, the English muffin was hard to cut even with a steak knife and the “Canadian bacon” was ham. She wound up scraping off the sauce and removing the ham (which is whole purpose of eggs Benedict) and eating the rest. The only positive thing she can say is the potatoes were decent. Even the oj tasted watered down. The pancakes were on par with a store bought complete mix in a box and bacon was very greasy. The French toast was “meh” bread tasted like cheap bargain bread and did not have a grilled appearance (more like a premade frozen food aisle appearance). Then we looked up and saw a big hole in the ceiling above us with wet beams, insulation and ceiling tiles with mold and flies in it, nothing covering it and as we proceeded to leave a small piece of something from there fell into the booth next to us. The lighting fixture which was 2 tables over from us which had wallpaper and ornamental attributes was peeling and pieces were missing and looked like more is ready to drop. 1st and last time. There are so many other good diners maybe the owners should visit some of those and see how they...
Read moreSunday evening, Atlantis Diner was the scene of an unsettling incident. Diner had 3 empty 6 person corner booths and the rest of the diner was half empty. A young father wanted to seat his autistic 5 year old in one of the corner booths away from Halloween displays that were scaring the child. He was rudely told NO because the seating was for 6 and his was a party of 3. Father explained child is special needs and needed to be in an area away from Halloween decor to be able to eat comfortably at the diner. Dad was rudely denied the request by the manager. (Halloween decor, in lobby, are animated and typical Halloween grusome.) Dad became highly agitated because he said it is difficult to take his son out.to eat and the half empty diner would have made it possible, away from Halloween decorations. The manager's nasty refusal angered the dad, who overreacted and handled this inappropriately, at having his request for seating to accommodate his son's disability rudely denied with no apologies. The manager at the Atlantis diner could have granted the simple request to allow a special needs child to comfortably eat a meal in peace but chose to discriminate against a child with a disability. The father chose a time when the diner was at less than 50% capacity in an attempt for his child to experience eating out. Child was well behaved. We chose to take our business elsewhere and will no longer...
Read moreI enjoy Atlantis Diner because they do have delicious food and I particularly enjoy their salads. However, I am not a huge fan of their service. I went once before and did not care for the way the manager spoke to me or the other staff. Then I went this week and also did not have a good experience. My cousin and I asked for plastic utensils as the ones on the table were not clean. This was thankfully provided to us but of course removed when we were done with our appetizers. Then when we accidentally asked for a plastic spoon for our entree, it was supplied. But when we asked if we can get a plastic fork as we previously made a mistake we were met with criticism from the waiter. He said something under his breath to the effect of, "Oh now you want a fork? You're doing real good." This bothered us because one it was an honest mistake that did not warrant criticism and two we didn't think it was a big deal or request especially since we ordered salads. We love the food here but the service can definitely use some improvement. Until then we may just order out but we would love to come back once the service is a little better which would improve our overall experience. Also I would like to add that Danny the busboy is a phenomenal person and we were very pleased with his...
