Harp & Hound — Restaurant in Town of Islip

Our group went to watch a football game on thursday night. The everything pretzel with cheese was incredible but I think they should give you 2 little cups of cheese for that giant pretzel. Our group ended up getting assaulted by a friend of the workers who was blackout drunk and we tried to get him removed for harassing someone we were with. The kid ends up coming in flying through the window and punches my friend in the head and throws him in a headlock and knocks over the whole table filled with glasses and plates. His friend comes over and starts throwing punches as well as we try to get the kid off my friend. The bouncer was extremely aggressive towards us afterwords making rude remarks and we were made to feel like we were at fault. The owner refuses to return calls regarding the situation and I recommend staying away from here unless you want to get hit by a flying superman punch in the second quarter of the giants game by a 5'6 kid jumping...

Great fish and chips. The curry sauce was a wonderful side.

post reply-edit: We asked if we could get a plain smash burger. The waitress said, yes, let me put in a basic smash burger in for you. And that's where the confusion took place.

We were given a patty wrapped in a flour tortilla. Never heard of a basic smash burger being served in a wrap. An odd default choice for serving a smash burger, when other offerings are served on a bun. Not be told how it came I figured burger meant patty served on a bun.

The reason I wrote this reply is due to the snotty attitude from the person serving the food. Having zero patience or concern for what was being served.

I would go back had the service been understanding, or non-judgemental.

We’ve been to Harp and Hound several times in the last year and are never disappointed. Typically we sit in the outdoor dining area but it was too cold to do that tonight. We would have sat in the main dining room but there was a private group in there so we sat at the bar. So glad we did.

Our server / bartender Nicole welcomed us immediately and took our drink orders. My wife had a Moscow Mule and I had an IPA. My wife said her mule was perfect! The beer was good and the taps are obviously well maintained.

We each ordered burgers and shared an order of onion rings. Our burgers came perfectly prepared (rare) and the fries were crispy and delicious. The onion rings were a huge portion and were equally good.

For what we ordered the bill was more than reasonable, the food great for bar food and our server, Nicole, was outstanding.
