I've eaten here several times on my extended visit to Buffalo. Kristin (bar tender) and Nick (server) have taken excellent care of me every time. (sadly, the one time I didn't have these two the service was sub-par, but i digress -- just make sure you ask for these two). Kristin and Nick were attentive, kept my drinks full, made sure my meal was exactly as I wanted, and that I enjoyed my meal. Next time I'm in town I will be visiting -- and making sure one of these two amazing people are there to help. Oh! And Nick memorized my drink order and that I prefer ranch to Bleu cheese (Natives of Buffalo, I'm sorry. But it is what it is). I didn't have to ask for ranch the second time I visited, it was simply on my plate. He also remembered me, my drink, and my table of choice after not seeing me for three weeks! Wow! The wings are excellent. The ORIGINAL Buffalo sauce and Spicy Bacon sauce are great on the wings--which are always cooked to perfection! The LTO potato skins were heartily portioned with buffalo chicken and plenty of sauce (I didn't get eh Bleu cheese crumbles, but if you're into that kind of thing the picture showed plenty!!)! The loaded tots have always been hot and fresh, plenty of toppings for every bite. And the buffalo wrap was perfectly portioned between chicken, sauce, and veggies. Salads have been a good value for the price. And yes. Their original buffalo sauce is the best I've had from anywhere claiming to make their own sauce. Definitely worth a try.

During our two-night stay in Buffalo, we dined at Anchor Bar Transit Road both evenings. It is common to worry about the quality and service at popular establishments, as they may not always uphold high standards due to their existing fame. However, this was not the case at Anchor Bar on Transit Road. On our first visit, our waitress Danny was delightful, attentive, and funny. We enjoyed our chicken wings and drinks immensely. The second time, Jessica took care of us and accommodated our requests for how we wanted our chicken wings prepared. Both experiences were fantastic, and we will definitely return to this location next time we're in Buffalo. We also visited the Anchor Bar in downtown Buffalo, but it was too crowded and hectic for our liking, so we opted to dine at the Transit Road location instead. If you prefer a less busy, quieter environment with prompt service, I recommend taking an Uber and visiting this location for a fulfilling dining experience. Btw I ordered full summer cocktails menu (around 4-5 cocktails) and my hubby had beers (2-3beers) then 10 chicken wings with hot sauce, 1 French fries (the fries are crunchy and great). Total bill is 90-100$ not including tips

THE STORY OF A BUFFALO CLASSIC On a Friday night in 1964, Dominic Bellissimo was tending bar at the now famous Anchor Bar Restaurant in Buffalo, NY. Late that evening, a group of Dominic’s friends arrived at the bar with ravenous appetites. Dominic asked his mother, Teressa, to prepare something for his friends to eat. They looked like chicken wings, a part of the chicken that usually went into the stock pot for soup. Teressa had deep fried the wings and flavored them with a secret sauce. The wings were an instant hit and it didn’t take long for people to flock to the bar to experience this new taste sensation. From that evening on, Buffalo Wings became a regular part of the menu at the Anchor Bar. The phenomenon created in 1964 by Teressa Bellissimo has spread across the globe. Although many have tried to duplicate Buffalo Wings, the closely guarded secret recipe is what makes Frank & Teressa’s the proclaimed “Best Wings in the World.”

My companion and I were hungry for a "late night" snack. Late night isn't what it used to be, and just past 9:30 p.m. we were pressed to find places open for a sit down meal, having missed dinner. Even down Transit Road near the airport, the options were limited.

We chose Anchor Bar, based on the prevalence of pub food, the fact that they were open, and that we've always had a positive experience at their city location. As we approach the building we saw another couple who had walked in walking out. The roadside marquee sign said 10:00 p.m., and it was just before 10:00 p.m., but Google had 11:00 p.m. closing posted. We ventured in.

We were greeted immediately, from a cheerful bartender as she acknowledged our arrival and suggested seating. After a brief moment she came over and took our drink order, and we confirmed the hours. She was aware the sign was wrong, and apologized, noted she had suggested a change as well.

We placed our order for a Cheeseburger and a Weck & Wings special. We upgraded one meal to include onion rings. The burger was cooked to order, the wings were a buffalo rub maple glaze special, and we're a nice departure from a traditional buffalo wing. I would definitely recommend trying these, if they are in the menu, and you are open to anything outside of the traditional flavor palette! Most of the onion rings were crispy, a couple were a bit underdone, and head excess oil, puzzling that they were not all identical, as if some have been added a few minutes into the batch cooking. We had more than enough food, so this was not of concern. The kimmelweck roll was crisp on the outside, and grilled on the inside (a nice touch, preserving texture, when the beef was added), and the roast beef was tender and flavorful. Side note, the meal was served with a side of a jus, which had small upcharge, and had not been specifically requested. I would inquire about this if ordering roast beef at Anchor Bar again, just to be sure, if I wasn't requiring it, I wouldn't be charged for something I wasn't using.

I opted to add their specialty drink a Cherry Bomb, prosecco, pineapple juice (canned, not from the soda gun) , and a cherry garnish. The sweetness was a nice contrast to the salty roll , and the sweet savory wings.

Truly, Jessica, was a nice departure from the mostly adequate service we've received and other places lately. With mostly full bar stools, and several tables, in addition to ours, she appear to be the only service in our section. But are all the appropriate moments, she inquired about our needs, our satisfaction, and our meals. Based on this, we would stop in again .

The only reason I could not give the atmosphere five stars, as it does reflect what you would expect from a place with reputation for great wings, and pub food, is that the bathroom walls and stalls were filthy. The fixtures toilets, and sinks were clean. But the lack of attention to detail to the extra surfaces, it often causes me concern for what other things may be overlooked, perhaps in the kitchen. The meals would have also gotten five stars, as they were well prepared pub food, except for the odd state of the onion rings, and two sad little pickles that probably should not have made it to our plates.

The only other concern I can express is that when I joked with Jessica about the sign being inaccurate, she too acknowledged that she had attempted to influence it. Being a former server / bartender myself, I think it's disrespectful when management does not recognize a simple detail like this directly impacts the income of the staff, and the overall revenues for the property, as, by our departure, we watched several people pull in and pull out because of the 10:00 p.m. on the sign. If you were at all considering stopping into Anchor Bar later in the day, I would definitely call, because you might be pleasantly surprised that they are indeed open!

Perhaps our attentive barkeep was in the kitchen when the first couple that and exited, as we parked our car,...

I went to Duff's wings in Niagara falls and I enjoyed the wings better than the anchor bar at this location they only had one server and they only checked on. me only once and I had an empty glass she walked Right by me saw My glass was empty and didn't even ask if I needed a refill they also tried to charge me a dollar for every extra blue cheese at Duff's They had Three servers at lunch and there blue cheese I only had to ask for one extra because they were a bigger size of Blue cheese besides that the service was none existent I had to track down the waitress every time I needed a drink the only reason why I tipped them 2 dollars is because they gave me a credit for trying to charge me for three very small servings of extra blue cheese I sure Duff's has a limit on extra blue cheese but they give you More than enough blue cheese for a single order of wings that you only need two to finish your meal by the way it was cheeper at Duff's then the anchor bar also better service so I am now going to go to Duff's for wings when I am in the area I was only giving you My opinion I was not sure were you are located since I am from out of town I still stand by what I have stated earlier in this review if one location has inadequate service and limited staffing issues and server's that don't check on you throughout your meal so your drink is never empty in stead of trying to track down the waitress to get what you need and inadequate serving size of the blue cheese so they charge you for them I didn't know that they charged extra for the blue cheese if you need more than one small portion of blue cheese and this establishment and I Am sorry if I didn't get the location correct on this review since I am from out of town but I still stand with my assessment of your establishment if one place doesn't have good service then the rest of them won't have good service that is just a fact that has served me well in the past 😔 I would like to add that I received alot more celery and carrots versus three pieces of celery by...

Please read the whole thing if you want an actual experience of this place. We called ahead to see if there was a wait time on a friday night at around 7pm. They said there was no wait time (huge red flag now that we look back on it)

First thing that I ordered was a water, just a nice cold water. This water tasted like they just filled it up in a goldfishes tank. It was the most disgusting, dirty dishwater, scummy pond lake water they could find. I had to order a sprite instead, just something to drink.

3 of us ordered 50 wings in a bucket es for $68, and some fries. Super pricey for wings but whatever, this place invented the wing, these things must be legendary....or atleast we thought. 50 wings at most places would take a decently long time to cook, probably like 20 minutes minimum. These wings came out in less than 10 minutes, AND THEY WERE COLD! HOW IN THE HELL DO YOU COOK THAT MANY WINGS IN LESS THAN 10 MINUTES AND HAVE THEM BE COLD!!! The ONLY possible solution to this, is that they PRE COOK the wings. DISGUSTING.

If the cold wings werent bad enough, they were disgusting, cartilage filled, gooey wings. Worst possible expirience so far but hey, we had some good looking fries to look forward to right? RIGHT??!?! HELL NO! These fries tasted like they just slid through a rotten fish carcass. I don't know if they didn't clear out the oil after they deep fried Mr. Krabs, but holy hell it tasted terribly like fish.

I really wanted to find a redeeming quality about this place, but there were none. I never leave reviews unless my experience is genuinely awful, and I have to say this is a solid 1/10...
