Having 4 kids, there are usually a few "kids movies" that come out every year that the kids are begging to see. Regal on transit road is the place to go if you have kids. It's the ONLY place we go to see movies with our kids. Well, the only movie THEATER, we do go to the drive in quite a bit every summer as well. Over these last 2-3 years, we have come to the lancaster Regal location on transit road on opening day and opening weekend for many of the new kids' movies. We were there opening day for Dogman, for Despicable Me 4, for the Minecraft movie just last weekend, for Sonic 3, for Beetlejuice 2, for BAD Guys, Ghostbusters, five nights at Freddie's, pretty much any big kids movie we are there opening day, or the day right after opening day. It's never crowded, there's never long lines at the concession stands, the theaters themselves are always clean, it's definitely a WAY more family friendly location when compared the galleria mall location where it's always over crowded, rowdy, and elbow to elbow on the weekends with unsupervised teenagers. And there's nothing wrong with that - but when you have 4 kids and you have a choice, I'm going to choose the family-friendly, less crowded, less rowdy option every single time because it's a more enjoyable environment for smaller kids and families. 20 years ago, pre-kids? The galleria Mall movie theaters were the place to go, because back then THAT was the exact kind of fun, high energy, crowded environment that my friends and I were looking for back when we were looking to go out on a Friday night. 2 great locations, both very nice and comfortable, just 2 very different atmospheres. If your going out looking for a fun time on a Friday night to see the newest scary movie or blockbuster hit, along with a crowd of alot of other young adults, then the mall is the place to be! If you're a parent like i am looking to take your 4 kids out to see Sonic or Minions or Minecraft, kids type movies, then the transit road location is 100% the way to go. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the price. The price alone for the movie tickets- OUTRAGEOUS. especially when it's 6 people every time. The price for popcorn and pop and candy? Even more outrageous. Crazily disgustingly outrageous. Every single time a new kids movie comes out, we are handing Regal $200 for 2 adults and 4 kids to get our movie tickets, and to get enough popcorn and Pepsi and candy to keep 4 kids munching for 2 hours. I'm sorry, inflation is crazy right now I get it, I get that it's a franchise type place where it's not like they can control their own prices, but $200 is way too much just to see a movie that we can pay to purchase through pay per view on amazon video or iTunes or Hulu. I totally understand, inflation is crazy right now, theaters are going out of business from all the streaming services, but to charge so much money for a bucket of popcorn and a drink is NOT...
Read moreThis movie theater is alright and solid 4/5. However, some of the facilities are aging and thus the amenities aren't up to the standards of other theaters I have been to and almost drops this theater down a star.
Around the United States, some theaters are pushing their customer experience to the forefront on all aspects from the comfort of the seating (recliners), to sound processing and audio presentation, to image quality, and lastly, down to the food and snacks they serve. (I lived in Buffalo back in 2014 have moved around a lot since then, so I'm not 'local'). For Buffalo, this might be the place and is by no means a bad theater.
I watched John Wick 3 here most recently. Picture quality was adequate but not great. The projector looked out of focus which is a disappointment. I say this because John Wick was digitally shot at 3.2k and finished in a 2K DI, so obviously you would and should expect a tack sharp image unless intended otherwise by the cinematographer and director. This was not the case and it was most evident on establishing shots of NYC and close ups of the actors faces.
The sound is probably worse than the image quality if I had to rate them against each other. The sound quality is flat and lacks the dynamic punch you get in more updated theaters with better sound processing and higher quality amplifiers pushing better speakers. Again, the sound is not bad, but not superb either. On a movie like John Wick, the audio does not quite immerse you like it should. The quickest way to add depth to these 'standard' theater rooms is to install better subwoofers as I felt the low end was most lacking in the audio presentation.
Overall, I would rate this theater 3/5 on pure substance. However, the staff is friendly and helpful, prices are decent (as movie theaters go), and keeping in mind the average Joe and Jane who would never notice the things I did, I have to bump my rating to...
Read moreWhat a different world coming to this movie theater. The last time I came to this location was about fifteen years ago. It was filled with people... Both customers and staff. Lots of smiles and excitement. This time it was like a ghost town. We went for a 7pm show too. We only saw three staff members behind the counter. No one greeted us. They seemed annoyed that we came up to order a drink. One was even complaining openly about being forced to take an early break. There was no one to scan your ticket. You could just walk in. No one to give you directions on which way to go. Not that it's hard to figure out but I guess I'm accustomed to it since other theaters do that. Not one person said we hope you enjoy the movie on the way in or we hope you enjoyed the movie on the way out. The screen was outdated and the technology seemed old school as the movie was fuzzy at times. The seats were a blast from the past. It's like being in a kids highschool auditorium. No recliners. Dirty seats. The floors were clean though. We were the only ones in the movie besides literally one other person. It was weird but kinda cool. At the same time it makes you realize that there's a reason no one was there. We only came here because AMC was booked for all showings of this movie and figured why not. Guess we aren't going back. I think they have a lot of opportunity to step up their game but they really don't care to. Not like AMC or even the Lockport drive in. They both do a lot to stay with the times and to ensure their...
