My family loves Anderson’s, but this location in Lancaster/Depew is not our usual spot. This past Halloween evening, I ducked in on a whim to grab a Chocolate Chip Big Wheel iced cream sandwich. I was greeted immediately by “John Wick” behind the checkout counter (reminder: It was Halloween! We commiserated on the treatment of his fictional character’s dog in the movie. The cheer in the establishment made me smile). When presenting the sandwich for payment at the counter, I also asked if it would be possible to pack it in a bag with some ice for travel purposes, since we were away from home and I didn’t know when it would be consumed. My strange request was happily accommodated.
What “John Wick” and his supervisor didn’t know was that the only reason I happened upon this location is because it is in front of the Animal Eye Care of WNY veterinary office (which is amazing, and for which I will endeavor to write a separate glowing review). Our pet had recently had a horrific injury to the eye, and we were waiting to pick it up from surgery. This iced cream sandwich, and the kindness and accommodation with which I was treated, helped to make the last 48 hours of our pet emergency less traumatic. Thank you, “John Wick,” and team, for uplifting us on a dark and exhausting day.
Also, either the pistachio or cinnamon soft serve are excellent. They rotate the flavors at each location and those are faves, check the web for...
Read moreAbsolutely love Anderson’s Frozen Custard in the Lancaster/Depew area! This location has been a go-to spot for our family for years, and it never disappoints. The frozen custard is out of this world—smooth, creamy, and always fresh. Whether it’s classic vanilla or one of their rotating flavors, it’s always a treat.
But the real surprise here is the food! Their beef on weck is one of the best around—juicy, perfectly seasoned, and served on a fresh, salty kummelweck roll. It’s an iconic Buffalo favorite done right.
What really sets this location apart is the service. The staff is always friendly, fast, and helpful. You can tell they take pride in their work. I especially appreciate that they hire local high school students—these kids are respectful, hardworking, and provide better service than many places with full-time staff. It’s great to see a local business giving teens a chance to gain real-world experience in a positive environment.
Anderson’s in has that perfect combination of great food, amazing custard, and a welcoming hometown vibe. We’ll keep coming back, especially in the summer. Highly recommend it to anyone...
Read moreI used to love going to andersons. I recently moved out to lancaster, and this was my second time at this location. There was a line for dessert of about 10-15 people. Tell me why there was ONE single person taking inside orders and making the ice cream?.ONE PERSON. All of the other 4 people standing around must’ve been working drive thru, but why would they not prioritize the people waiting inside too? I was standing third in line for 20 minutes before I decided to just go home. And it didn’t help that every single worker was loudly carrying on full conversations while “working”. I think working with people you enjoy to talk to is absolutely fine but a) we don’t need to hear your whole conversation and b) you should be focusing on taking/making orders for all of the customers waiting in line. Others in line starting talking with me about how slow the service has been lately. You would think on a 90 degree day that they’d know it would be busy and put on more workers. Absolutely disgusted and disappointed by my experience at this location. I’ll have to remember to stick to the location in Tonawanda. Zero...
