Date of visit Mon Aug 7 We first learned of this restaurant while watching a rerun of a show called Man vs Food on the travel channel. We were surprised to learn of this restaurant that was so close to us, that we had never heard of before. We cross the USA border into Lewiston a lot, and yet never went into Lewiston itself. Until now. This is a fast food style restauarant where you place your order and then find a seat in the silo. They call you when your order is ready for you to pick up. The building is a historic old silo and has amazing views of the Niagara River and the Canadian Side of the river. Burgers, dogs, sausages, chicken, and other similar types of food. We ordered the Haystack & Fish & Chips. The haystack is like a loose meat sandwich covered in cheese and fried onions. They offer loganberry drink in the beverages – which made me happy as I am from Crystal Beach where loganberry drink was made famous, and very popular when I grew up.
The food is very good. A nice casual meal with nice waterfront views. The restaurant is only open May 1st - September 6th and is very popular with locals and tourists during the summer/ There is a train caboose onn site where you can get ice cream cones. Some of their flavours were pretty amazing.
A walk along the river is a lovely way to work off some of the calories you just took in, and see the Underground railroad statue, and...
Read moreGreat food... Grape vibe with some unique choices on the menu I would definitely recommend you try the haystack which is a thinly sliced roast beef sandwich on a soft bun topped off with some hickory sticks or something similar to Hickory sticks anyways. Generous portions. Self-serve drink bar with lots of different varieties of pop.. make that soda if you're American 🇺🇸 Also if you're interested it is directly across the street from a really good hotel. The park that is right beside the restaurant is quite nice and gives very scenic views of the waterfront. And there's also seating all throughout the entire restaurant that also gives fantastic views. This restaurant is located within a 10 minute walk of the downtown area and it's definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the area. And yes it is a historical building which actually was a working silo at one point. There is plenty of free parking across the street and around the whole restaurant if you need. I would say this is a great spot for a date and be sure to grab some ice cream from the little side caboose that is on the property the ice cream is outstanding. Great hard-working staff very well run and very well organized... Mr boss man if you're reading this make sure your staff...
Read moreThe view was beautiful and the restaurant itself is pretty cool. We were really excited to try this place because it had such good reviews. From the get go, the server at the register had an attitude with us and acted like we were bothering her. We paid $40 for a chicken sandwich, a footlong, fries, rings and two fountain drinks. While we were waiting for our food, the employees were yelling at each other swearing like crazy. They were also blasting some ratchet trap music so loud we could barely hear each other talk. Our food came out cold and didn’t have some of the toppings we paid for. I unfortunately don’t have the receipt to prove it because we told the server at the register we didn’t need one. The bun was soggy on the sandwich and the fries/rings tasted like they came from a bag out of the freezer. Wouldn’t have had as much of an issue with all of this if we didn’t pay $40 for it. The quality of the food and the behavior of the employees was not worth $40 at all. It was a huge let down and we’re sorry we wasted our money. Unfortunately and sorry to say we wouldn’t come back here and wouldn’t recommend to...
