I gave this restaurant a rave review shortly after we moved into the area. It was great food, great service, and every order was special experience. A year later and the food is just as good, even more interesting meat specials. The only thing that's changed is the level of customer service. I totally get that this establishment is a small takeout eatery and the staff are used to smaller orders. But lately it's seemed like when we try to order for our big household we get more of a "inconvenience" vibe from the staff and our patronage feels less appreciated. To the owner: It seems bad luck that a mob of other patrons always show up after we start ordering (nothing I can control). We also come in with the orders listed out so you can prep the order at your staff's pace and convenience, and allow other smaller orders to be serviced. We're not pretentious snobs and don't mind waiting a bit for our order. If we're an inconvenience, then our family can just as easily call in takeout orders from LaGalera down on the Blvd. I hope to continue giving...
Read moreHad lunch yesterday with my daughter at the Spicey Pickle and it was fabulous! My daughter ordered the "Pickle Pack" with three soft shell tacos, 2 ground beef, one grilled chicken and lots of toppings (cheese, black beans, pico, jalapeños, sour cream, cilantro and Pedro's hot sauce), and a "Nacho Supreme" with ground beef, nacho cheese and the works. I ordered the same "Pickle Pack" soft shells with shredded beef on two, and grilled chicken on one with toppings of cheese, black beans, black olives, pico, cilantro, and banana peppers with a side of mango habanero sauce. These tacos were over stuffed, and the nachos were LOADED! The total $28. The toppings were crisp and fresh and the meats were nicely seasoned without being overly salty. Everything was phenomenal, but one taco each and we were stuffed. The staff were pleasant, the restaurant was very clean and there are tables...
Read moreThe appearance is nice, the young lady that started our order was very nice! The older man (I can’t call him a gentleman) that completed our order was the complete opposite. His customer service was nonexistent. The smile and welcoming nature he had with the previous customers seemed to disappear when it was our turn to order. He made very little eye contact, seemed in a rush, extremely unhappy, and eager for us to leave. He did not make us feel welcomed all which is odd because as soon as our orders was complete he went right back to his welcoming self, being the only two African American women in the establishment one may find it easy to figure out what his issue may have been. Nonetheless the food was average, nothing that could not have been made at home. Very little wow factor and flavor. I can say everything seemed pretty fresh, other than the...
