A great place to relax and enjoy good food. The Silo and Griffon are right there. The Silo (when open) also severs Perry’s ice cream. While the Griffon has Live Music and great views and food. There is also a monument of the freedom crossing, where slaves would flee from salvery by crossing over to Canada in the 1840’s and 50’s.

I was always impressed by the amount of history in the WNY region. Located in the scenic historic town of Lewiston, NY (not far from Niagara Falls) the Freedom Crossing Monument was dedicated in 2009 to celebrate it's major role in helping slaves escape into Canada as part of the Underground Railroad.

Beautiful sculpture! Interesting (and amazing) to think of all the people who crossed over in this area! It would have been a difficult crossing with the current! Worth a stop to reflect on the history.

Beautiful representation of such an important piece of national history and something to really reflect on. The monument as well as the accompanying description gives adequate information to those who might be unfamiliar with the history of the area and its overall impact on the lives of countless individuals, hopefully inspiring them to look into the story more or explore other regional highlights such as the Underground Railroad Museum in Niagara Falls. Looking out over the Niagara from that point, I was able to envision the depiction of the monument and was extremely moved at the enormity of history this region possesses. I'm amazed that as kid growing up locally we were not taught the local ties to the Underground Railroad, other than people trying to reach Canada we did not learn that crossings were local nor given examples such as the one conveyed at this site, it's something I only learned as an adult. Not only beautiful, but important to people who might have similarly been in my position and want...

Nice place to enjoy with Family. This is also a tourist spot with Whirlpool Jet ride facility. We bought Whirlpool Jet ride pass online. They will give a brief training on the ride and give you life jacket. To get the training, we should be here 45 minutes earlier to our actual ride time. The ride was fantastic and every one will enjoy.
