I am appalled at the customer service that I received from the OWNER, Angela. I ordered 4 trays of food for pick up, pre paid, and had my daughter pick them up on her way to my house. One of the workers spilled sauce in my daughters back seat when putting a tray in. She was apologetic and offered to pay for the cleaning. I thought that was more than fair and a nice gesture on her part. When my daughter got to my house with the food, the heaviest tray with pasta in it was dripping and buckling due to the weight of the pasta, the tray was not doubled or reinforced in any way. The other 3 trays were also dripping. I decided to call the restaurant to let them know what a tough time we had getting the trays into the house while they were bending and dripping. The owner, Angela, answered. I explained what happened and expressed that I had paid a lot of money for this food and suggested that the trays could have been doubled....as I am almost done explaining, she started talking over me and said "my employee already said we would pay for the cleaning of your daughters car", in a very condescending voice, while talking over me. I asked her not to talk over me and said that that was very rude. She then says, "I don't know what else you want me to do". I replied, an apology would be nice. She said "I DON'T HAVE TO APOLOGIZE, MY EMPLOYEE ALREADY DID". I'm was very upset at this point and tell her that this is the worst customer service and I couldn't believe how rude and unprofessional she was for how she was talking to me, I also say that word of mouth can hurt a business. She replies "IT WON'T DO ANYTHING TO MY BUSINESS". I was in absolutely disbelief at the arrogance of this business owner. I ended up hanging up on her because I was about to have a house full of people and was agitated and upset, especially after all the money I spent on this food.....she was still talking over me and saying how she has been in business for 20 years, etc, etc, We like going to this restaurant and have always been happy with the food and...
Read moreI'm a local and have supported this restaurant for years and have given the owner many chances to clean up their act, but this will be my my last experience here. After using the restroom facilities I was washing my hands and out of the the single stall comes out what appeared a chef or a line cook, not sure which, but this person came out of the stall and didn't even bother washing his hands! This was very upsetting to me and I consider this a health code violation. In addition to this one of the waitresses was actually playing with her hair with one hand while delivering a tray of food with the other. WOW I had enough of this and almost walked but but stayed and was tortured more with poor food quality and skimpy portions. I've been use to getting huge portions at this restaurant but not any more. The relish tray that they use to give preceding your dinner was about 4x the size less. We had a table of 6 and we were served 4 slices of bread and probably what amounted to 2 tablespoons of each of the different sides they give you with the tray. I was surprised that this place has gone the El-cheapo route with their portions. My wife and I ordered Eggplant Parm which was very dry and and old tasting. The other 2 that had problems with their meals ordered Farfalle con Salmone, Linguine alle Clams. The Salmone was reported to be extremely salty and dry at was sent back for another, but the second piece came out the same way. My brother whom ordered the Clams reported these to be very fishy, chewy and old tasting. Needless to say that this long time Lewiston establishment had definitely gone downhill. After dropping over 275.00 after drinks and tip I refuse to support this restaurant for my future dining/entertainment needs. Portions are small, everything is over-salted, loaded with butter and simply not...
Read moreMy husband and I tried Casa Antica for the first time tonight. We had reservations, and the hostess asked us to wait at the bar until our table was ready. She forgot about us and 37 minutes later I asked her when we would be seated. After asking us (again) if we had a reservation, she admitted forgetting us. The management jumped right on it and their immediate guest recovery was great. The assigned server gave us very good service for the rest of the evening.
Wines by the glass were fair, and the bread service was very good.
On recommendation by our server, we ordered a goat cheese appetizer which was okay.
I ordered the salmon entrée which was good but overdone - the bottom had a very thick hard crust, indicating it was in the oven way too long. My husband ordered a pasta dish which tasted good but was swimming in a very large bowl of sauce. Big portions seems to be the selling point of Casa Antica.
As mentioned, our server was outstanding and obviously a seasoned professional.
We took our leftovers with us but threw them out when we reached the trash can outside the restaurant as the pasta sauce was all over the inside of the bag and was a huge mess.
The bartender was very rude and pointedly did not thank us for the tip. I guess five dollars was not enough gratuity. She is very young and has probably not yet completed customer service training.
Overall, it was a good dining experience, but...
