My husband really likes BBQ, me on the other hand well let's just say life would be a happy place without and I wouldn't miss it. Let me also add I HATE ribs. Now with all that out if the way my husband and I stopped for lunch after a procedure I had done and this was the closest place. I figured I could get a salad or something and since my husband never gets to eat any of this BBQ stuff when we go out I thought it would be a nice treat for him. I ordered the rib plate +2 meats and it comes with 2 sides and I added 1 more side. Let me tell you how much this place changed my mind on BBQ & ribs! The food was amazing!!! The ribs were fall off the bone tender and I actually liked them. I had included with my plate was the Pigken (pulled perked & smoked chicken shredded) with a garlic honey sauce, not sloppy saucey, but just awesomeness and also included on my plate was the brisket and it was really good also. Probably my least favorite out of the 3 but good. My plate came with 2 sides like I stated earlier plus I added 1 more. My mac & cheese was good, I'm very picky about mac & cheese but this one was good! Looks like it was gonna be dry but it wasn't, my coleslaw was amazing, but I am a coleslaw junkie, not gonna lie, this slaw is a bit on the sweeter side which I personally like but just so your aware. Then I had the BBQ baked beans and they were soooo good. My husband had the 1/2 of chicken which was good and french fries also good fries plus the coleslaw. The causes they provide are also really tasty. The regular one has a good taste and the hot sauce is just like the regular but hot. Did I add I don't like hot/spicy foods either. But this sauce was (hot) was pretty tasty. It's not hot like a chicken wing hot or spicy like a chinese food spicy it was just good! Over all I would definitely go back here. If they can make a gal like me actually enjoy a smoke BBQ house/ restaurant than they are most definitely doing something right. Thank you for the wonderful experience. The place is small with not a lot of tables and a bar that takes up the whole side entrance so it's nothing fancy but it's got great food. Our waitress (I wish I remembered her name) but she was the only one working the day we went there (2/16/2021) she was amazing, very pleasant and took care of all the tables very well all by herself. I'm sure there was a cook or something there but she was the only one working the front of the house. You now have a...
Read moreWe stayed in Lockport to travel to Niagara Falls. We found One Eyed Jacks on Yelp and it had good ratings. The place looked nice and we went for a late lunch so it wasn't very crowded, but still full. I've tried lots of barbeque and I like the smoked, southern style, but it's hard to find BBQ I love. This place was great! I tried their bbq feast which had ribs, chicken, pulled pork, brisket, garlic bread, and I had baked beans and coleslaw. The ribs and pulled pork were a little salty, but the flavor on everything was great! Light smoke flavor, not too heavy, no sauce (I asked for it on the side, I prefer dry BBQ so I can taste the meat). The ribs were meaty, I only threw out the bones, I didn't have any fat or gristle to set aside from it. The rib meat fell off the bone. For BBQ competitions, they say it shouldn't fall off the bone. But, we're not at a competition, and it made it easier to eat! Pulled pork was flavorful, not too fatty, again nothing to throw out from the pile of pork. Chicken was a thigh and leg, perfect flavor. The brisket was moist. Most places I've had brisket it comes out very flavorful but dry, the one wasn't dry at all. Baked beans were tasty, thick, not too sugary. The coleslaw was mayonnaise based (not vinegar based), but slightly sweet, soft cabbage with a little crunch to it, and light sauce. Even the garlic bread was good, good bread, lightly buttered and garlicy, toasted nicely. Too often I find other places give chewy, oily garlic bread. I tried their house bbq sauces on the table and ordered a side of their bourbon bbq sauce. Wasn't crazy about any of them. I like sauces more like Bulls Eye brand, deep smoke flavor, or something more vinegary with a little spice to it. No problem for me though, since the bbq stood great on its own, I wouldn't have added sauce anyway, even if I did like the sauce. Service was great. Our waitress (forgot her name, short lady, server 0114 on our receipt) was great. Very attentive, got orders right, looked like she took care of all her tables well, they all looked happy with her, and she was friendly, pleasant and prompt. I live to far away to plan to go back, but I'd highly recommend it to anyway in town. Worth the trip from Buffalo (about...
Read moreNormally I don't have any complaints but my last visit wasn't good. Waited 15 minutes to be seated. They were busy that's to be expected. We ordered and got our salads then after a hour of nothing else and not seeing our waitress I walked up to the hostess and asked her if she remembers seating us she said yes. I explained that we still haven't received our food. She said "that was a while ago!" And would find out what was going on. By this time more then half the restaurant was empty. The waitress reappeared and said "your food is coming right out". Seeing that I wasn't pleased (I don't have a good poker face when I'm not happy). She quickly added in a snooty tone that she "was giving us time to finish our salads". Well that was 1/2 hour ago. So she went into the kitchen and brought our food out. Everything was cold except the side of mac&cheese. When checked on told the waitress it was cold. She said it was all hot when she grabbed it. Which couldn't have been true. She did offer to take it back but by then we just wanted to finish up and get out of there. So we declined. She brought us to go containers as requested. She stated "the owner doesn't want us to be unhappy and offered us a piece of pie to take home". We excepted. It didn't make up for the rude waitress or waiting over a hour for cold food. Especially when I did eat the peanutbutter pie..it wasn't anything to...
