Summary present at the bottom.
My fiancé and I came to trivia night a few weeks ago. When we entered the place had a warm glow and nice atmosphere. The seating arrangement seemed a little cramped for a waitress ran into my fiancé's chair several times without apology. It took too long for us to order drinks and even longer for them to arrive. When they did arrive I wasn't told that the extra coffee I had ordered alongside my water wouldn't be ready for another 15 minutes. Trivia was fantastic so I will neglect to mention again the poor foundation of service we received besides noting that ordering and recieving our food took nearly an hour and a half. Too long for a single pizza and breadsticks. The taste of the food would have saved our experience, the pizza we ordered tasted fantastic and the breadsticks were nicely browned. The dessert was fantastic, my love having ordered a smores'esque ice cream covered treat and I placing an order for deep fried cheese cake (a hidden love of mine). When our desserts arrived, she dove into hers and I stared at mine because I had not received my long awaited dessert but rather a slice of normal, non fried cheesecake. The waitress took it back and returned the correct dessert 15 minites later setting it down too roughly and leaving with a frown.
So to give you the cliff notes
The good: taste of the food the fun of trivia night a round of applause for a returning service member at the end of the evening the bar was sectioned off in a ways so you couldn't hear that rowdy crowd unless you ventured close by decor was nice a little loud at times but not awful, typical war of the rising voices and then a hush after a bit
The bad: the service attitude of waitress slow wait times for everything messed up my dessert and gave me attitude for it lastly the bathroom. The bathroom door was a typical push button lock where you unlock it by turning the handle on your way out. However this lock unlocked from both damn sides. So as I sat there more than four people walked in on me using the single person male restroom and it got so bad I ended up running to a gas station to finish . Please fix this issue...

We ordered online on 10/22 for 12 wings, an entree, a sub and mozzarella sticks. The delivery was over 2 hours; maybe they could stop taking orders or let customers know of the huge delay. There are at least 6 other Italian places that deliver to us.
The food was terrible, it was cold..the wings we ordered crispy were rubbery. The bolognese over angel hair was utter mush, as I gather the pasta kept cooking under what was hot bolognese sauce. The ham and salami sandwich had no flavor except a huge white roll. It seems in an effort to increase quantity, they are falling very short on quality.
The total bill was $73.00 which included tax, tip, delivery fee $2.00 and a charge of $2.44 for using a credit card as opposed to cash. The bank fee for accepting credit cards is a cost of doing business, not something you "pass on" to the customer. Debit cards (which is what I used): "Surcharges cannot be imposed on debit cards or prepaid debit transactions per Visa and Mastercard." AND "Ten states prohibit credit card surcharges and convenience fees: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Oklahoma and Texas. It is illegal for merchants to add any surcharges to credit card transactions or charge convenience fees to nontraditional payment methods in these states."
I know everyone, business and customer, are feeling the effects of inflation. Sal's should go back to their roots..delicious, hot fresh Italian food.
This review was 2 years ago and 5 stars: We order delivery, first time in restaurant. Great server Brooke and very cozy atmosphere. Food was great, tried a pork tenderloin special and Mediterranean chicken. The owners have made a big investment, tiled bathrooms, looks like granite bar, nice lighting. 2 people for $65 ($21 drinks) and brought food home. We have never had bad delivery..antipasto and char-grilled wings are awesome as well. We...
Read moreFirst time we came here it was amazing. Great food great service. Every time since is more and more of a disappointment. Slow, even on slow weeknights. Decided not to come back ever about a year ago.
Tonight everywhere else was too busy and we decided on one more chance. Thankfully seated in just a minute or two. It was a little busy at first, so we waited a while for drink orders, but that's understandable. But then we waited another 15 minutes for the drinks, a draft beer and a cocktail. Again, nothing to complain about by itself since it was a little busy. We were able to place our orders when the drinks came. Appetizer and garlic knots came pretty quick, both were very good. So far, no major complaint. If that was the worst, I don't think I'd have minded.
But then we waited for close to an hour. During this hour we waited another 15 minutes for another draft beer. When our food finally came out, the steak I asked to be medium was barely even rare. The lobster mac and cheese that was supposed to have "chunks of lobster" had only an empty tail shoved in the side. I think the worst part was how expensive it was. 24 bucks alone for mac and cheese by itself.
It was late, we were tired. We just paid and got boxes. The food isn't inedible but it wasn't what we wanted and definitely not worth the cost (both in the time we spent being ignored and the money we begrudgingly gave them).
I loved Sal's the first time I went. The second time I thought it was an off night. Now I'm feeling like the first night was the outlier. Won't...
