We chose Harbor Fish during restaurant week as we love seafood. What a mistake. The restaurant had no plan- was it casual, fancy? It looked like a take out ājointā. Prices were hefty, they went with the $44.95 price fixe yet definitely not a high end place. Uncomfortable chairs, bare tables- no table cloth or placemats. I can tell a restaurant by the bread and this was 4 small slices of store bought Italian bread served on a plate with pats of butter for 4 people. Our waitress explained ,when asked, that it was her first day and she wasnāt familiar with the items on the menu. She was sweet but looked as if she was going to work in a cocktail lounge. They needed to decide what it wanted to be before attempting such a diverse menu. Two pictures, hung way to high and a metal sculpture stuck on the wall isnāt enough. When we sat down the busboy or was he a waiter, started lowering the lights. We explained we really wanted more light and this was not a restaurant that needed low lights. Oh my goodness! And the food! 3 orders of fried calamari that tasted like cheap frozen food from a discount box store. Definitely not ārealā calamari. Looked like onion rings and were cold. Waitress took them back for what appeared to be a microwave zap. Paella tasted like boxed rice with some tomato sauce added. Clams and mussels tasted fresh. Two of us had paella and 2 had the shrimp in lobster sauce. Unfortunately, the pasta was cold and oily. And the paella may have been called that but nothing else was similar to the dish. We were all looking forward to the key lime pie for dessert only to find out they had none. Hard to believe they ever had any that night as we were only one of two tables at 7 P.M. The banana flan was inedible and we were people who knew flan. It was store bought cheesecake. Ok, maybe a good cup of coffee- only to find out they only had regular and espresso - no decaf. It took the new waitress several minutes to find that out. Some advice to 2 week old restaurant - have someone who cares about the restaurant there during its first two weeks of being open to greet the guests and make them /us connect. Have someone other than a waitress on her first day (and she walked in with us at 7 P.M. ) and a helper who only spoke Spanish (as we did) running the house. As weāve long been told ā you only have one chance at a first impressionā. Unfortunately this was not a good one. And oh what an assortment of fabulous options there were on the restaurant week...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCraving Oysters and just picked this place on a whim to try when I googled fresh oysters. Drove by it a million times and never noticed since itās not on the busy Mamaroneck strip. It actually has additional parking in back. I would call this a hidden gem because you can easily overlook it due to the location and lack of curb presence. We had the Prix Fixe menu which was quite good value for three courses. Oysters were great. We finished it too quickly before I remembered to take pictures. My Snapper was fantastic. The Branzino was very good but should have ordered the whole fish rather than fillet. The rum cake was delicious and reminded me of Tres Leche instead of the Caribbean variety. Cheesecake was excellent and better than the key lime. The latter a bit too sweet where as we preferred a sharper lime taste. They brought us the wrong one so we got to try both. There is a Latin flavor to the dishes and not your typical southern deep fried seafood shack. Itās clean and pleasant but a bit of thoughtful decorations might give it more atmosphere. The owners can either try more festive or more romantic. Not sure which way I would go. The food and service are definitely excellent. Will...

The food is great, flavorful and made to order. I have gone 3 times in one week. Each time I tried something different. First was the shrimp tacos- YUM, second was the steamed buttery garlic shrimp with a side of steamed sweet potatoes- DOUBLE YUM, and third was the crab cakes and the very well seasoned shrimp bag- TRIPLE YUM. This is one place I will definitely will continue to purchase...
