Pros: chicken wings with Thai sauce, the view of the lake, outside tables Cons: worst Bloody Mary, Burnt kids food, cold adult food, basic sandwiches, $$$$ over priced, laughable portions, sloooooowwwww service, no pool table
So I’ve lived here basically my whole Life and have frequented this place as a youngster to now. I use to like biking to town to eat here and sit by the water but the food has really gone down hill. They were good to get the kids order in quick with some wings, which actually was the best part, but the corn dogs came out burnt and I had to scrape off all the breading. Why are kids meals always so terrible? Our bloody Mary’s- wow, I didn’t even finish mine and I usually drink anything because I hate wasting money. If you want a can of expired tomato juice with some simple syrup? And a hint of vodka then this is the blooody for you. You can then munch on some hard olives that are probably months old and left out. Mmmm expired bar fruit! I didn’t touch the other fixings in there. The best part was my sandwich. I had a 2oz grouper sandwich that was basically bun and had to add guac for $2 and With the upgraded fries- I paid $20 for an ice cold sandwich that didn’t even fill me up and I am a tiny wisconsinite. It was a joke. I will say the topping on the sandwich was good but it was so hard to enjoy when my fish tasted like it was left in the window for a half an hour. The other sandwiches were mediocre. Nothing to brag about. Standard hamburger and pretty small chicken sandwich. Our total bill for 4 adults and three tiny children was almost $200 when we factored in tip. What a lunch. Go somewhere else for that kinda money and service!! Unless you stop for a tap beer and the wings. Then you might be ok but I won’t be going back until it sells again. cheers to the...
Read moreFinally able to try the "newly designed" Minocqua Yacht Club on a Sunday afternoon. Parking has always been an issue but we were able to park in the small parking lot. We entered the lower level and wow what an improvement! Beautiful bar and window views to lake. We wanted to sit upstairs which is the "draw" but it was confusing who to "check in" with. No hostess on lower level so I met with a gal behind the bar who directed us upstairs and indicated a hostess would be up there. Up the long stairs and once up top no hostess but a lot of staff around the bar. No one came to greet us. A young girl bringing food up those long stairs said go ahead and take a table someone would be over to serve us. Sounded strange but us and other groups did just that. We sat un-greeted for quite some time being looked at by staff as if we violated some rule. One of my group went to the bar to order drinks and finally a server who had stared at us came over and asked if we had been helped. We explained non hostess, direction from other employee and apologized for any mishap. Server said she would take care of us even though it obviously was her table to begin with. Food and drinks were very good. Outdoor seating with view of lake was very good but highway noise a bit loud of course. The mishap will not deter from returning. One thing I can't believe is an elevator wasn't put in the plans not only for staff that has to walk up long stairs with full trays of food or for the older customers to enjoy upper...
Read moreWe went there this past Friday. We were told to sit wherever and someone would come take our order. So, we went upstairs and picked a table that was right next to the bar. It was busy but there was probably 5 or 6 tables open yet, certainly not packed. We sat down and waited for 5 minutes while we watched servers/workers hang out and shoot the breeze behind the bar. Then another group of four walked in and stood in front of our table. A server came up to them and gave them menus and had them pick a table right behind us. We still waited hoping to be served...
Once the server walked by our table and took their order it was clear no one was going to wait on us. At this point we had been sitting for around 10 minutes. I went to the bar and asked for food menus so we could serve ourselves. Once I got my wife's order I went back up to the bar to order but was then told you weren't serving fish that day. So we gave up, left and walked by the group of workers still talking shop at the back of the bar too busy to wait on us.
The place looks great and the upstairs has a really great vibe and view. I'm sure it was just a one-off, bad experience but pretty annoying to sit there while others who come in after...
