I will start by saying both of the ladies that worked the front desk (check-in & check-out) were pleasant, courteous, and good natured. The quality of the experience ended there. After checking in and sent to our room, the absolute furthest location from all amenities and the front desk, Room 3020, no elevator to get there, down 2 flights of steep stairs; we were met by a room that was tired, stale, and disappointing. I called the front desk and asked if we could change rooms, the response was 'no, unless we wanted to pay for an upgrade charge'. I did ask if a similar room was available, no to that too. The hotel did not appear to be busy. The room itself hosted a dirty ceiling above the ceiling fan (although I don't know how you'd clean the ceiling as it was the old popcorn painted texture); a beat-up chipped bathtub; hot water that arrived only after turning on the bath faucet, sink faucet, and bar faucet for a good 15 minutes, although not surprising since it is the farthest room from any known connections. The bathroom also had rolling paint around the base trim indicating a moisture problem. The sheets were clean and the bed was fairly comfortable. The towels were scratchy but clean. The door leaked light from underneath, and the echo chamber that is the hallway, allowed us to hear the children from the room 2 doors down. The room above us was occupied and we got to hear them walk across the floor (our ceiling) all night. We were there for 3 days (2 nights) for work and I, not only will not recommend the Hotel, would not stay there again. How disappointing to know that you have an incredible location, a pool (we didn't use), and POTENTIALLY fabulous amenities. You could be a destination for many travelers to this lovely and sought after vacation area. It is no wonder that AirBNB's, VRBO's and house rental opportunities have become so in demand.    Read moreI stayed at the Pointe in May of this year with my husband for our anniversary and again just this past weekend (December 20-22). It was a wonderful experience both times.
I love that there are different rooms based on the types of families that stay.
In May, we had a suite that had a king size bedroom. We utilized the full kitchen, the deck, and the pool. It was a romantic getaway with plenty to do in the area. We went to the bar and restaurant and shopped in town. We enjoyed our visit so much that we suggested it as a place to stay for all of our family for Christmas.
This weekend, we had our family of 5, plus our extended family in nearby rooms. We had a king-sized bedroom plus another bedroom with twin beds and a couch that pulled out in the living room. It also came with 2 full bathrooms and the fullsized kitchen. It was perfect for staying away from home with 3 small children.
The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating. They allowed us to utilize a conference room so our entire family could have a pot luck style meal together.
They also answered many questions and any minor issues that came up were resolved quickly.
It was an unforgettable weekend both times we stayed and I highly recommend staying...
Read moreI spent hours researching places to stay in the Minocqua area, and we were not disappointed with our choice to stay here. The property was meticulously cared for, the staff was professional and pleasant, and the room was clean and nicer than we expected. When our a/c unit didn’t turn on, the staff immediately found us a different room and they were apologetic even though it was not their fault. The next day the general manager “Buck” also apologized for our inconvenience, and we found him to be one of those rare genuinely nice people who are extremely good at their job and really care about others. He’s been in the business for over 30 years, and it shows.
Most places that I stay at don’t blow my socks off and most get a “meh” reaction from me. This place is nice, clean, quiet, the location is perfect, the pool and whirlpool are epic, there’s a great view of the sunset from the balconies, the rates are more than fair, and it’s run by one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met in this industry. Just do it, you won’t regret staying here. I’ll...
