Horrible experience, upon entering the back outdoor patio, we saw a woman with a large dog at her feet finishing up lunch. We then seated ourselves at a back table away on the outside dock tables. One of the people in our party was in a power wheelchair with her support dog. Didn't think anything about it since others were outside with their dog. After waiting for 15 minutes no staff waited on us. I asked the manager "Luke" politely if we could get service, he told me they only have two waitresses and I said "no problem" we were shocked but thought, hey they are busy. Approximately 5 minutes later he returned and asked us to leave because Dogs were not allowed. He then said "unless it is a service animal" I was shocked because there were other dogs and the brashness was abrasive (yes it is) However, he asked after he told us to leave. At this point we knew we were not eating here, so as we left we saw yet another dog "poodle" at a table that we had not previously seen as they had got there after us. I couldn't help but ask them if they were told to leave and they said no and had already been served their drinks.. Again not wanting to create a scene but very upset, I went back inside and explained the inappropriateness to "Luke" especially since the only person asked to leave was the one in a wheelchair with an actual support dog. This was very humilating and a first time experience for us. It should be noted that we walked down the street to the "Minocqua Brew House" which had outside seating and was not only seated without problem but also they brought our dog a small water bowl and she drank that with the three other dogs who where with their owners enjoying a meal outside over the Fourth of July weekend. The manager at "The BOATHOUSE" was poorly trained, horrible customer service, and over whelmed. . The ownership of this restaurant better get a grip on this before they find themselves in...
Read moreMy son and I came here on a Thursday evening to celebrate the completion of his first work assignment. I am not wheelchair bound but it should be noted that there are no disabled parking spaces or a way to enter the establishment with a wheelchair; much less with a walker as there are only stairs that lead up. Upon entry we waited 15 minutes to be seated although there was ample staff and seating available. There was an older gentleman who was playing the piano live which was THE ONLY proper thing about our dine in experience. The male host was polite and seated us near the window in the corner where we had a seemingly nice view of the lake. Our waitress Ashley did not take our order for another 20 minutes. I ordered the ribeye steak, baked potato, and salad; and my son order the king crab, fries, with chicken wild rice soup. We were brought water to drink in cups along with a plastic carafe that was yellow and cloudy... which we did not drink of. We were brought appetizers first; my salad had a rotten moldy tomato (that was flipped upside down to appear fresh?) along with lettuce that appeared to have been eaten on by some sort of insect. We were also brought a weird assortment of snack crackers with two scoops of unknown spread.. it was garlic butter and easy cheese? 😂 We waited for her to come back to check on us but after waiting 25 minutes I flagged her down as she attended other tables to let her know. Oddly enough the only thing she said was “Are you sure?” and did not offer to make this right. At this point I was hoping that this was not indicative of how our meals would be.. My steak was overly fatty/overcooked and the 2.5 crab legs were not any more appetizing. Our waitress was cold, standoffish, and did not check on us except for the instances I informed her of my salad and for the check. Needless to say my dog had a surprise dinner tonight. Will not...
Read moreThe boat house is actually two restaurants I guess. I went in and got a coaster to get in que for the upper portion not aware of the lower. They said it would be an hour I went to the bar with $100 bill and could not get attention the bar tender was talking to not serving a guy. Then he said oh I'll get right to you and proceeded to take drink orders for other people who were potentially waiting longer than I was apparently I don't know? I kind of made up my mind I was only going to pay for the one beer or not leave a tip because I got better things to do than get stood up by a frat boy bartender. Another guy came up and was told I could use service I got us surly and a drink for wife. The online menu is are apparently really old. And the thing is I don't care what anything cost it probably went up over the last few years. The menu is were so damn old. The menu items I was excited to get didn't exist or where considerably more expensive than I was getting excited about. Like almost double. But you know I rolled with it we got a seat over by a water ski show and a dish full of crackers and some cheese spread I enjoyed because it took forever for the food to come. I don't know why somebody has some brave new take on tartar sauce leave it alone what's wrong with you apparently you don't have proper filtration because the entire establishment was sitting in a thick greasy fryer haze. But hey work that tarter. Overall this place was stupid and I would never go back but unfortunately it's marginally better than some other places I've been disappointed in the Northwoods visiting. I feel like there's a real opportunity for good operators there's a beautiful antique bar. You should sell this place to...
