Ganso Ramen & Sushi — Restaurant in Town of Mount Pleasant

Stopped by Ganso Ramen and Sushi for lunch and, while the atmosphere and service were pleasant, the overall experience left quite a bit to be desired—especially when it came to the food-yes we are from the city, so maybe that is the reason it’s hard to impress us..

The outdoor seating area was comfortable and inviting, offering a nice escape from the busy street. The staff were courteous and attentive, clearly doing their best to make guests feel welcome. The steamed buns (katsu chicken, shrimp, pork) were also a highlight—soft, flavorful, and well-prepared.

Unfortunately, the main reason for visiting—bowls of Ramen—were disappointing. The broth lacked depth and richness, tasting rather flat and bland. Even more frustrating was the lengthy wait after placing our order.

Despite the friendly service and decent atmosphere, it’s hard to recommend Ganso if you’re coming...

The mediocre at best tonkotsu looked light and tasted very bland, the pork belly was sinewy and overcooked, noodles ok. Do not come here for the weak tonkotsu or weird foamy miso broth, the kimchi ramen was the best of the three and that makes me sad. The Ganso wings, chicken teriyaki and beef buns were good, but incredibly.overpriced, as was everything given how miniscule the portions are.

For two years we all observed the painfully slow construction process, and then the blueballing with the grand opening - and perhaps we set our expectations too high. I had hoped for a solid ramen house (and bbq) as its just down the street from my house, instead we have an unremarkable, generic Japanese restaurant aimed at tourists. At least it looks nice from the street, maybe we can knock...

I had a fantastic meal at Ganso Ramen & Sushi! The chicken katsu curry was absolutely delicious — perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the curry sauce had amazing flavor. Everything came out fresh, hot, and beautifully presented.

The service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed but inviting. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel comfortable as soon as you sit down. I’m already looking forward to coming back to try their ramen and sushi next time.
