This is by far the best and safest place to eat! When you are living in a world where you need to question everything about your food--where it comes from, what practices go into growing the food, whether it is manipulated, how it is handled, and, of course, the meals the food turn into, Root2RiseNY is the ONLY eatery I have yet to find that takes the time to ensure the cleanest and healthiest food around, while delivering amazing epicurean delights. Whether you are vegan, vegetarian, or a meat eater, there is something to please the palate and satisfy even the most skeptical carnivore. After a long and tiring week, and a rainy day to boot, Root2Rise is a sight for sore eyes and a welcome comfort for the stomach. Fantastic cannot begin to summarize the incredible food, but on a day when you are running on empty, the mulligatawny soup, accompanied by one of the greatest gluten-free breads they offer, hits the spot and makes you forget about the dreary weather. The fabulous matcha latte completes the meal as it has the perfect balance of oat milk and the highest quality matcha. This is not the matcha tea you will find at that chain coffee shop that is found in every town. This is elevated to new heights and makes you wonder from where those chains are getting their sub-par ingredients. Top off the perfect meal with the perfect soft, chewy, gluten-free chocolate chip cookie and you are ready to tackle the weekend. I have yet to taste anything less than exceptional at my home away from home. I even take all of their foods with me whenever I travel as good, clean food is hard enough to come by. Throw in trying to find gluten-free and it is impossible, unless you are eating Root2Rise food. Thank you to chefs Jyoti and Mike, and all of the beautiful, smiling faces behind the counter and in the kitchen, who make every trip to Root2Rise an all-around healthy and heartwarming experience that nourishes us,...
Read moreWe are from Princeton, NJ, and we traveled nearby to go to a concert at the Caramoor Music Festival. On our way to our destination, we found this restaurant on Happy Cow. In the end, we ended up taking most of our meals here (three!), just because of the sheer quality and diversity of the offerings.
This is an amazing vegan restaurant. It is vegan, local, gluten-free.
Strongly recommend the paninis. I got the roasted vegetable one with the peashoot guac, my partner got the green pesto — they each tasted like their own thing, but both were so divine they were eaten before I could take a photo. We ordered them again and again.
But we also loved: The Kale-Caesar Salad, the lasagna, the grilled cheese sandwich, the fresh cut fruits. We can't wait to try more.
On our third visit, we got to meet the owners. It turns out the founder, Jyoti Tewani, is this incredibly caring and thoughtful person, who had been in the kitchen for every one of our meals, and she vets every product carefully. For instance, she vets the product they sell off the shelves. She tastes every batch of juices that her staff makes. The restaurant is entirely run by family, each with their own purpose. (And the staff that isn't family is very sweet too!)
We are looking forward to coming back on our next vacation in the area. Sometimes rather than going to many different restaurants, it's nice to find one good one and hit it up over and over again! This place is worth a detour on its own....
Read moreMy wife and I have eaten here multiple times this past year and the food and service has always been great, except for our last visit several weeks ago. I have always ordered the vegetable panini with basil pesto sauce, which is usually delicious. Unfortunately on our most recent visit the panini was extremely salty and spicy, so much so that I could barely eat it (but I did). In hindsight I should have brought it to their attention but didn't until after I ate it. I spoken with the manager owner who proceeded to thank me for letting her know. I don't recall getting an apology and there was no effort made to make it up to me. All she said was she would taste the sauce to determine if it was made properly, which I assumed she would do immediately. When my wife and I were leaving I asked her if she sampled the sauce. Her response was that she would after finishing her coffee. There was obviously no concern about the quality of the food they are serving and certainly no concern about her customer's discontent with the food nor did she care about me as a customer. No apology and no effort to make it up to me. She just thanked me again for letting her know. My wife and I eat out regularly, and rarely if ever get treated so poorly. Considering the prices they charge they could certainly be more customer oriented, but she certainly didn't have a clue. We will not...
