We had the worst experience last night and didn’t even make it passed the hostess stand. My parents are regulars at the Middletown location and refuse to go the Newburgh location and now I understand why. When we arrived there were 2 couples in the waiting area and we said we didn’t have a reservation and were told oh we don’t take reservations and it would be a 30 minute wait, understandable for a Friday night. Slowly people started coming giving the number of people in their party and instantly being sat. Weird, but we figured some people were waiting in their cars and some may be regulars so a little favoritism is understandable. We started noticing other parties of 2 coming in and being shortly or immediately sat after giving their names and being told they would receive a text, meanwhile the other 2 couples and us still hadn’t been sat. Finally a party of 5 came in and when they were told there was a 55 min wait the man blew his top, yelling that it was his birthday and they are diabetic and this is why they don’t come here accompanied by a slew of expletives. So much for a 55 minute wait because they were immediately seated after that scene. My very level headed boyfriend in a non comical manner asked if they were going backwards on the list because some how everyone who came after us has already been seated and our wait time was now negative 15 minutes with 0 parties ahead of us for the last 25 minutes according to the text we got. When the hostesses scoffed and then laughingly told him when it’s his turn he’ll know I asked to speak to the manager. Well Ashley was somehow more rude than than the other hostess so I see why the training is so sub par (and a side not she had a dirty pimple patch hanging off her face which is just unsanitary and unprofessional) she proceeded to tell me they had a 5 top ready but nothing for parties of 2 thats why they were sat immediately, when I questioned why the party was told it would be 55 minutes when the POS should have shown a 5 top was available right away she told me their system doesn’t show table availability…as if I’ve never worked in a restaurant that’s the entire purpose of a POS at the host stand. When I inquired about all the other 2 person parties who came after us and were sat she told me they had reservations…after we were clearly told they didn’t take reservations hmm. When Ashley got tired of stumbling over her words and trying to think of more lies to twist the situation rather then just admitting it was bad customer service she said it was our turn and “do you want a table or not?” which just proved my point since the two other parties who arrived before us had still not been seated. I tried explaining that and she said either you’re sitting or not so we decided to take our business elsewhere. I would like to think the dinner service and food would have been better but the host and hostess are the face of your business and first impression and last night was horrible. Do yourself a favor and avoid the headache by going to the...
Read moreDo not door dash with this restaurant! I ordered $80 worth of food for my birthday. The door dash driver came with ONE small sandwich. I looked at the box and told the driver it was the wrong order. It was a different name on the box. He said "That's what they handed to me." So, yes, the driver took the wrong box. HOWEVER, when I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager, I was shocked at how rude she was. "The driver should have checked the name. You will have to call door dash." I then asked, "Is the restaurant responsible for giving the driver the wrong name?" Her response, "It's not us." I then responded, "Yes, you do take some of the responsibility for NOT checking the name before you handed the box to the driver. You do know this was $80 in food and the driver was handed a box with one sandwich. YOUR employee handed him the order." Her response "Okay." That's it!! No apology for any part that her employee took. So then I ask, "What is your restaurant going to do about my order since you still have it?" Her response "Take it up with Door dash. This was done by a third party?" Is this how Cosimos deals with customers? What an unprofessional manager. My son delivers door dash and he said even the fast food restaurants double check the names before they give him an order to deliver. Yet Cosimos, a supposedly upscale restaurant, can't be bothered. Gee, I wonder why when they have a manager that couldn't care less if an order...
Read moreIf you want to go to a real restaurant, go to "The Station" in New Paltz. Cosimo's is a complete joke on every level possible. It was my and my wife's anniversary today. I called 1.5 hours before for a reservation, and they told me to call back a half hour before and they'll hold a table. So I did that, and when I arrived a half hour later they told me that I had a 30 minute wait even though I called in advance. I do work for Cosimo's at my store, and there is no way they would accept this service from me. They run the lousiest, non-communicative service (sorry if your staff can't understand big words) so maybe next time they need something from our store, I'll jack their prices for wasting our time. Both the manager and hostess were rude. If I get a call from the owner and a free meal, I'd consider wasting my time by going there again, but never again will I recommend them to a living soul. Maybe the dead, because the dead people can wait. But don't lie to me and make me follow your rules, then break your own rules.
Not to mention now I'm eating my anniversary dinner at Fridays right down the road, and the servers are more polite, the food is debateably better, and I haven't felt pushed aside since I entered. I hope Cosimo's drowns in debt. I can't wait for the next time they ask our store for services. I'll triple the price for the...
