Editing my review to add a response to the owner’s comment below— I did not make a negative comment on the person that works slowly. I was trying to highlight how kind he is. I never said that I wanted extra pieces. I didn’t see when my food was being put together as others moved forward to place their order. I did call when I reached home. I was told “sorry about that”. An attempt to make it right was never made. I appreciate your response but in all fairness, I feel like I should post an update because you are assuming I did not call. You are assuming that I want extra food. I asked how long the patty takes so I can decide if I will wait in my car. You are assuming that I am annoyed or discriminating against your staff that moves slowly. I was trying to describe him so you can be aware that though I am upset about this morning, I was giving him a compliment. I never complained to your staff about anything else besides when your new staff gave me more bones instead of meat. No where did I mention your prices. I had no issue paying your asked prices. Please do not feel that way. Regardless, as a customer, I should not have to apologize. A proper response would have been a direct response to continue this conversation privately.
The sign says 9am open so I went in around 9:15am. No one was at the counter but there was food there. A man walked in and went to the back. He then came up to me and told me to leave that the door should have been locked and that I shouldn’t be in there until the ladies arrive. I told him the door said 9am and I just wanted a patty. He said it won’t be ready until the next hour and I asked him how long it takes to bake, I don’t mind waiting. He said no. I ended up leaving but I did confirm that the door said 9am. I was running my errands and saw they were open and was excited to grab my usual. Normally they are open! Since I’m here, I might as well share that they normally run out of curry goat and jerk by 5pm or so. They don’t make more after that. I’ve had several instances where I came and left because there was barely any food. Also, the guy in the picture dished out my food once and I got 3 pieces of curry goat that were edible in a large curry goat and white rice. The rest was bones!! Generally, the folks here are nice and accommodating so I let it go. Consistency is important and I feel like you get different portion sizes based on who serves you. There’s an older guy who is very slow and talks a lot but he is kind and his portion sizes are always excellent. I’m sorry to just say it all now but I’m just frustrated with this past experience. It is now 9:35am and the guy who works the front is still standing outside the front door waiting to be let in since the other man closed the door after telling me to leave. Oh also, he told me that the owner is upset that I’m in the store at 9:15am and showed me his phone was ringing because I’m being seen on the camera. Overall, I’m not happy!! I was made to feel like I did...
Read moreThis used to be my go to place for my Jamaica meals. But lately I have stopped going because I have been complaining to them about the amount of pepper in the food especially the soup. Neither management nor the chef is ever there to address the issue. And the taste of the food tends to fluctuate as if they keep changing the chefs because as regular I do taste the difference especially this past summer, and even though the staff on the serving line are always apologetic about it i have to say it got very annoying. I have acid reflux so even though I used to love spicy foods I can't have it anymore. Plus I am tired of buying my food and giving it away because I can't eat it. In my opinion you cannot cook food in an establishment that is serving food to to a wide range of people and cook it like you are home with all that pepper. Spices should be added to the side for customers to add as they desire or need, so since they seem to be cooking for a certain kind of clientele I have decided to take my business elsewhere where I do not have this problem. I wish them all the best and I hope in future they listen to their...
Read moreMy spouse and I stopped in here on a trip looking to try something new. I was hesitant bc its a chain, but oh. my. god. I am so glad we went. The young man working that night was really friendly and helpful (he could tell we'd never been there before lol). The portions were fantastic (we were both stuffed). And the food itself. Yum.
We got the bbq chicken combo and the curry goat combo. The chicken was melt off the bone good. I think its probably the best bbq chicken I've ever had from a restaurant. I wasnt expecting to like the goat but that was great, too, though its important to know for ppl who are unfamiliar with the dish that there are bones in it. We knew to expect that so no big deal.
We will definitely go back here if we're in the area again/will go to their other locations when possible. Sidenote: the place itself was very neat and clean. It seems like more of a take-out joint rather...
