My wife and I went out with a couple of our friends for dinner at this steakhouse a couple nights ago. Everyone's meal was fine except my wife's. She didn't ask for a well done Burger and got one cooked rare. We asked the waitress to take it back and cook it some more of the way it was supposed to be, and that's all I expected to happen, for them to cook the burger a little more and get it back. What followed was truly amazing and I have never had happened before by simply asking a waitress to correct the dish that was made incorrectly. A short time later the waitress returned with my wife's meal, and she made a point to state that it was a completely new meal and apologized for the error. That was nice enough, but the next thing that happened was astounding and I have never had this happen in my 60 years of going out to restaurants which we do often. Once the waitress left a gentleman walked up to our table. He was dressed in a nice suit and asked if my wife's meal is now to her liking. We told him yes and he also apologized for the error and assured us that this was not something that normally happened at this steakhouse. I asked the gentleman who he was, he stated he was the manager of the store and his name was Marc Ferguson. There's been many times where I had a problem and I called for a manager and also there have been many times where I had something so nice at a restaurant that I called to see a manager, but never have I had a problem that I simply asked the waitress to correct and had a manager come up to my table on his own to make sure that the waitress had made right what had been made wrong. To the owners of longhorn steakhouse, do yourself a very big favor, and your patrons, use Mark Ferguson to teach your other managers an above and beyond way of running there restaurant. One where your patrons definitely come first and their enjoyment is of the highest priority to everyone in the restaurant including the manager. This kind of service is extremely rare and because of it I definitely plan on going back there again soon. Just to make things clear oh, I have no relation to nor have I ever met Mark Ferguson before this night a couple days ago at his restaurant nor was I paid anything for this review. A man like this that cares so much about the level of quality his patrons are being given deserves...
Read moreMy family and I went to Longhorn Steakhouse in Newburgh to have an early Mother's Day dinner. We attempted to go once before, but the wait was too long. So at 5:00 PM on a Friday was the perfect time to go -- we were seated immediately after the family before us. Before we ordered anything, the server brought us bread and butter. The bread was soft and warm. We're debating whether it was whole wheat or unseeded rye. Server later offered to bring a second loaf -- we accepted. We ordered drinks -- Corona was properly served with a lime wedge and wife's Margherita was excellent, with sugar around the edge of the glass instead of salt. We ordered a Texas Tonion appetizer and were expecting something similar to a Blooming Onion. Instead, it was batter dipped onion pieces, served on an unusually long, narrow plate with horseradish dipping sauce in the center. I believe another restaurant calls these Onion Petals. They were delicious. The salads were OK -- I had Caesar's and my wife had the house salad. For entrees, my wife had blue-cheese crusted filet mignon and said it was the best steak she ever had. I had prime rib -- it was cooked perfectly and the au jus dipping sauce that came with it was absolutely amazing -- tangy and peppery -- a perfect compliment to the tender meat. My seven-year old son ordered steak from the children's menu -- he loved it. Usually a finicky eater, he finished the entire generous portion. He liked the mashed potatoes, too. My daughter had chicken tenders with fries, which she enjoyed very much.
The prices were surprisingly reasonable. With drinks (including 2 alcoholic beverages), but no dessert, dinner for 2 adults and 2 children was $100, including the tip. It was an all-around perfect dining experience and a great way to celebrate Mother's Day with my family. No doubt we will eat there again -- maybe for...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would. Came in alone and was sat at the bar. I was hoping to avoid the bar, as the bartender was very rude on my last visit. But I got the feeling the hostess wanted to sit a "single" at the bar, not a table. Just like last visit, the bartender tonight did not greet or acknowledge me for the first 5-10 mins. I returned to the hostess to request a menu. Bartender then pointed out she " had gotten a menu", nope, no menu present. Ignored a while again, then placed my steak order. No bread by the time my salad came- repeat of my last visit. Apparently bartender just cannot be bothered getting a customer bread. Steak dinner came, asked the young food runner if I could get bread- he said " No problem, I'll let the bartender know." Fail. Finished my steak, and the same food runner came by to collect all dirty dishes- bartender just left them, haven't seen her the whole meal. Nice young food runner brought me a loaf while I sat and hoped I would have a chance to order dessert in a reasonable amount of time. One loaf of bread finished, I gave up hope and decided it was pointless to expect any acknowledgement from the bartender I would have to tip for her "service". She came for the first time my whole visit and now that I had my credit card sitting on the bar asked " no room for dessert?" Are you kidding lady? She goes out of her way to avoid helping or acknowledging her guests at the bar, it was obvious watching, which is mostly what I did. If I could label this visit it would be called " watching rude behavior instead of eating...
