This was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. We made a reservation in advance and were assured there was availability for six on a heavy snowing day and that we can come in at the scheduled time. It was snowing heavily, and the weather was freezing. Upon arrival, the waitress seated us at the table right next to the door. I politely asked twice if we could be moved to one of the open tables further inside, but the waitress insisted they were reserved.
Our party consisted of six people, but the table we were given only fit five. When we requested a more appropriate table once again, the waitress dismissed our concern, saying a five-seater would be fine for six people. It was incredibly cramped, but we decided to "live with it".
When the waitress asked for our drink orders, we requested hot water due to the cold weather. However, we were told they don’t serve hot water—only iced or sparkling water. If we wanted the hot water, we have to buy a pot of jasmine tea (this by the way never happens in ANY restaurant we go to, they serve hot water even if it is asked in the summer). Reluctantly, we ordered regular water and specifically asked for no ice.
Here comes the good part, a family of four, who had also made a reservation, arrived and said "we called earlier." Despite there being other available tables for four away from the door, they were given a spacious eight-seater. Meanwhile, we were left at a table that was too small and uncomfortably close to the cold air from the door while my children were feeling super cold.
As a result, this is the first time we EVER left a restaurant. The waitress was not considerate and we drove far to try out the food. This experience was frustrating, disrespectful, and completely disappointing.
I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Responding to Owner. I want to first say, no this is not a made up account. From your encouragement, I will start writing more positive to whom deserves it. To counter your statements, first, the restaurant was not full when we got there. There was 4 empty tables. Secondly, we DID call and ask for a reservation, your team could have said "we do not have space", but said "we have room for 6". We called 30 minutes before the time, I would consider this a confirmed reservation if we were told "just come in". Third, the seat your server sat us in DEFINITELY not meant to fit 6. How could it sit 6 if there was a couple that sat besides us? Help me make sense of that. You stated we stormed out, we POLITELY asked to be seated elsewhere 4 times by our party, does that not count as giving it a chance? Pull the cameras and see where 4 that came later sat. Good that you also agree it...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at prainam for lunch today, and I’m thoroughly impressed. From the moment I walked in, the service was attentive and welcoming, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
For drinks, I tried the Guava Pina Colada and the Thai Iced Tea with a tea scoop—both were expertly prepared and refreshing, setting the tone for a great meal.
As for the food, it was absolutely exceptional. The roti was perfectly crispy on the outside, yet soft and tender inside. The squid was cooked to perfection—flavorful, tender, and complemented by a beautiful balance of spices. The papaya salad was fresh, tangy, and had the perfect level of spice.
For the main dishes, the duck curry was rich and aromatic, with a depth of flavor that was simply outstanding. The fried rice was fluffy, light, and a great accompaniment to the dishes. The Drunken Noodles were a highlight—well-seasoned, with the ideal balance of savory and spicy notes, and the noodles had just the right texture.Everything served at the right temperature.
Overall, I had a fantastic dining experience and will definitely be returning. I highly recommend Prainam Thai for anyone looking for authentic, high-quality Thai cuisine paired with...
Read moreI know it’s early days, so there is hopefully a chance to improve.
We did takeaway, and here are my own personal thoughts -
I enjoy spicy foods, but “medium spice” was extremely heavy-handed so the green curry had to be tossed, as there was no flavor, only the feeling of my mouth burning.
The 4 piece spring rolls only came with 3 pieces.
The chef’s special pork belly dish was just an intense salt bomb.
The prices are also astronomically high for Thai food, even at the PW markup. Unfortunately, the $77 we paid for two apps and two entrees would’ve been better spent if I had driven further out of town in search of areas with more competition.
Lastly, this is not a gas station. I expect the same prices at a restaurant whether I pay in cash or with a credit card…seriously, it’s a bad look.
I wish this restaurant good luck, and hopefully they will be open long enough to get a liquor license, but we won’t be dining here again.
It did look busy last night though, so...
