I have been a loyal Wild Fig customer since they opened their first restaurant in Glen Cove about 20 years ago. I also dined in their restaurant in Garden City. Both were excellent!
I started going to this Wild Fig “express” in Roslyn more frequently during the pandemic and when the Glen Cove restaurant closed. The quality of Wild Fig’s food and service has steadily gone down hill since 2022. The greens tend to be wilted, the chick peas undercooked, the meat and falafel and topper portions have gotten smaller. BUT THEIR PRICES HAVE INCREASED! The salad toppers used to have flavor but now they’re bland and flavorless.
With respect to service, frequent errors—such as omitting toppers, pita breads, dressings—have been made on my orders. When I’ve called Wild Fig to inform them, their answer is essentially “Come back today and we’ll fix it.” As if this were easy! I told the last Wild Fig employee I spoke to that it's the restaurant’s responsibility to avoid errors, and if they make a mistake, they should correct it without inconveniencing the customer. Considering these issues, I'm doubtful about returning to Wild Fig anytime...
Read moreA small but flexible and reasonably healthy menu, they’ve adapted their model to be low service with high-quality food. They had a restaurant in Garden City which was more full-service, more of a full menu, and I preferred it. The Roslyn branch has reasonable food, but it does not align fully with their stated branding. If they’re going to brand themselves as high-quality healthy food, they need to offer more nutrition information on things like calorie count.
Their low cost of labor model may be necessary in today’s world, but the employees have no desire to provide good service. I can try to adapt an order, they just insist you do it online and they are unwilling to talk to you about it. When I ask about calories, they say, we don’t have it, goodbye. It’s not just the employees’ fault. The organization is trying to branded self is healthy, but doesn’t offer information that somebody who is focused on healthy eating seeks. That said, I gave it four stars because the quality of the food is pretty good, the cost reasonable, and the...
Read moreDelivery order was incorrect in multiple ways even though it was correct on the ticket sent with the food. When I called to ask if they could resolve it the employee said “Sorry we were busy.” I respectfully asked to speak to the manager and he put me on hold and I could hear him speak to another employee about me in Spanish assuming I wouldn’t hear or understand him. Well I speak Spanish and I don’t appreciate rude things being said about me to another employee when all I did was call to ask for a resolution to the error they made, and which I requested kindly and respectfully. We’ve been ordering from Wild Fig for years, since it opened, but no more. Very disappointing and offensive. I’ll be sure to share my horrendous Wild Fig experience with everyone who happens to live nearby or...
