I don’t typically write reviews, especially for businesses post the pandemic — and, frankly, because it’s often not worth the time — but my experience with Arhaus Manhasset, which seems similar to others’, has been too disappointing to overlook. After spending tens of thousands of dollars on orders of new furniture (which we waited months for) and floor samples, the way we were treated by our salesperson, Terri, was not only unprofessional but dishonest.
After receiving a quote for a significant amount of furniture, which was not our first, second, third, or fourth order in less than a year’s timespan, I later discovered that Arhaus soon ran their bi-annual sample sale, offering sale prices PLUS an additional 70% off many of the same items I had just been quoted. Despite numerous conversations with Terri, she never mentioned this sale—likely because it would have reduced her commission—and I only found out when I visited the store while she wasn’t there. No loyalty to a repeat customer. I ended up purchasing several items, both from our quote and others, at the discounted price. But when Terri found out, instead of acknowledging her failure to inform us about the sale or checking in on what we had purchased, she actually urged me to come back and spend more money on the same items—except without the 70% discount, which had since expired. This was not just unethical; it was manipulative. It wasn’t the first time we felt she was trying to maximize her commission at our expense. I expressed my disappointment, especially considering she had asked for my personal help with an important matter of her own. I made it clear I wouldn’t be giving her any more of our business.
Fast forward about a year, as we were setting up our home post renovation, we encountered a significant safety issue with one of the Arhaus freestanding bookshelves we had purchased. It was missing a locking screw mechanism that keeps it upright, making it a hazard in a home with four pets. It could not even be installed safely. When I called Arhaus Manhasset, I was initially helped by a pleasant representative, but unfortunately, I was transferred to Terri. Her response was beyond dismissive; she told me that because it was a floor sample, it was “my problem” and offered absolutely no assistance—as if I was bothering her. I wasn’t asking for compensation or a refund— not only have I never, would I never unless absolutely and objectively merited — I was simply trying to ensure the safety of my family and pets by securing the piece properly in our bedroom. Terri’s response was cold and uncaring, especially given the history and the fact that we still spent almost six figures on furniture from which she personally profited. .
After trying to explain to her what the goal of the conversation was, the situation escalated when I had enough of her complete indifference and, admittedly angrily, demanded to speak with another salesperson or her direct supervisor. Terri responded by making an incredibly insensitive remark about “getting help for my problems,” which was not only beyond inappropriate, especially in the social climate we live in, but extremely ironic since this problem is the only problem I’m aware of and she, seemingly, is the person who could help me! Then, she abruptly hung up.
Thankfully, her manager was understanding, apologetic, and has since contacted Arhaus corporate to help secure the missing parts for the bookshelf. To me, she did not seem surprised by my interaction with Terri. While I appreciate the store manager’s ongoing efforts, this does NOT excuse the appalling behavior I experienced from Terri. Her lack of professionalism, disregard for customer safety, and clear focus on her own financial gain over reasonable customer service is disgraceful. Arhaus has nice furniture, but I strongly advise avoiding Terri as your salesperson. Based on multiple interactions — both mentioned here and not — it’s evident that her only priority is her commission, not the well-being or satisfaction of...
Read moreI went into Arhaus in Huntington and was greeted by a salesperson Tenisha who was very pleasant and professional . She showed us a bunch of different items and we put an order together . I was interested in possibly adding a sofa and unfortunately that sofa wasnt in the Huntington store . Tenisha suggested that if i wanted to see it in person to go to the Arhaus located in Manhasset so i could see it . She told me when I arrived to ask for Dawn and she would be happy to show it to me . Here is where the one star review comes in , I entered the store and was greeted by a salesperson . I immediately told the sales person i was sent to the store to just see a couch and that Tenisha sent me and told me to ask for Dawn . The salesperson turned to Dawn and said " Dawn these customers are here to see a couch Tenisha told them to ask for you " Dawn literally yelled across the sales floor if Tenisha wants for them to see a couch maybe she should come here and show it to them herself . She added i cant believe she would send them on a Sunday . Literally she was standing in the store not doing a thing no customers we were mortified there were other customers in the store that literally looked at us like what the heck was that . My husband and my daughter looked at each other and didn't know what to do . The saleslady who called for Dawn was totally embarrassed as well she quickly said i can show you the couch. In the elevator she said I'm so sorry i don't want you to feel unwelcomed . I asked how could I feel any other way . I couldn't believe how unprofessional Dawn behaved she also agreed it was terrible. The entire experience was so un settling on the way out Dawn still had no clients and I looked at her to make eye contact giving her the opportunity to apologize maybe a bad day and she turned her head on us with an annoyed face . If you do decide to shop in that store avoid Dawn at all cost she has a terrible disposition and needs a lesson in...
Read moreWell I had a day with Arhaus. My wife and I loved a table so much that they had on the floor that we decided to drive from Massachusetts to Long Island to pick it up. They cannot ship across state lines so they told us we would have to hire an out of state moving company or come get it. We couldn’t find a moving company so we rented a van and went ourselves. When we arrived we were greeted by a woman saying “you really think you guys can take this table on your own?” Kind of rude but fine. When we found the table it had not been disassembled and was still on the floor covered in merchandise for sale. The tag on the table had a clear pickup date of today 10/26. When asked why it was not disassembled they reported that the Arhaus moving team disassembles the table once you have a pick up date. My wife had in writing a pick up date and our pick up date was on the table itself. When all the merchandise was off the table we realized the table was broken. After trying to tell us there was nothing they can do and we needed to figure it out they came back with a set of wrenches and I started taking the table apart on the floor for transportation and to see what was wrong. The entire latch to link the table to the base was broken. The staff offered a 200$ discount on a broken table that would need to be fixed completely. Furthermore when we asked them why they did not inform us that the table was broken before we drove 5 hours to come get it they simply said we did not know and you did not ask. I was unaware that I should be asking in advance if the table they are selling me is broken or not. I would not recommend...
