Denny's — Restaurant in Town of Oneonta

My parents and I walked in to eat, most booths on the right side of the restaurant were empty with piles of dirty dishes/food left on the tables, and the table next to us was very loud and were talking to someone on speaker phone. We got up to ask to sit at another table and waited by the register so we did not accidentally sit at a closed spot. The employees walked by us numerous times and knew we were there. Finally the waitress noticed we left the table and asked why we moved. We told her the table next to us was very loud, and it was too warm in the corner. She instantly gave an attitude “oh um well okay then, go sit anywhere.” We found a quieter spot, and then waited 10 minutes for a server. We could hear the same waitress in the kitchen complaining about us to the other staff members.. A man that was supposed to be our next server ignored us, swept and cleaned tables, waited on one other customer.. my parents and myself were starting to get annoyed after waiting long enough and talked about how nobody was coming over. He heard us and said he would be there in a couple minutes. He continued to sweep, clean tables, and wait on the one other customer. Never fails that every time someone drags me here faced with horrible service and mediocre food. We get coffee and they come half full. When I asked for the whole pot to be left (as they do at ihop), I was met with a nasty stare and she left. Every time our waitress came by it was like she hates to be there and made it self aware. Note!!!! If you take a job and you know that you have to serve people, it’s in your best interest to be people friendly and bend over backwards to help your customers. You start with a zero zip and either work up to the best tip or, like myself, you start out high and end with what your worth. In this case she was worth 3 bucks for 3 people. Precocious visits come with dried out crepes or greasy food and still horrible service. In a town where it thrives off vacationers and few options for a diner type setting, this branch needs to do a better job at either training or actually caring about its customers instead of connecting a dollar. I only gave it one star because the waitress was nice. We came in at 330pm because my daughter loves the potato soup special only available on Wed and Thurs. The server told us they were out of the soup and the cook would make more but it would be 30 mins. We said ok and that we would come back. We returned at 430 (1 hour later) and she said he was making the soup but it was still watery and would be another 20 mins. We decided to sit and wait and I ordered a sandwich. 30 mins later I finished the sandwich and the fries and the server told us the soup was still watery , it is now 5pm, an hour and a half since we hade first come in. We decided to leave and I will NEVER EVER eat there again. I could have made that soup from scratch in the same amount of time and don't appreciate my time being wasted.
