We went to Chili & Curry after a long time. We used to go here quite often pre - Covid. Our most recent experience was a complete, total, utter disappointment, especially when I compare with previous experience.
It looks like the owners and/or management has changed.. and in a nutshell, this place has fallen from outstanding to below average.
Food: Completely bland. No flavor at all. We ordered pretty much the same dishes that we used to order. The first thing I noticed was lack of seasoning and flavors. Chicken appetizer was overcooked and rubbery. I had trouble swallowing that hard, flavorless, bland rubber. I was only able to swallow with a gulp of water.
Chicken entree was nothing to write about. Not even enough salt.. forget about rest of the flavor profile.
(Previously, this place used to be our most favorite Indian restaurant.)
Service: The waitress had no idea what she was doing. She and the other waiter cleared our plates before our full round of appetizers was served. When the manager/owner pointed out to her that we still had a couple of appetizers coming our way, she placed the old plates back. I honestly don't know whether or not she gave each of us our own plates back. By this time, we were so utterly dumbfounded, that none of us could think of what to say. She eventually gave us new plates and we finished our appetizer round.
By the time we were half way through our main course, our disappointment was probably showing clearly on our faces. The owner/manager came to us asking if everything was fine. The way he did so was so apologetic.. it was like he knew he was serving bland/tasteless food with a less than mediocre service.
(The service here used to be stellar. The previous owners, a husband-wife couple, used to provide such a homely and warm experience.)
I am never going back there again. I genuinely felt bad for that place. We have such fond memories of the food and the service there. But with the new management/owners and the staff, this...

This place has been recommended to me by word of mouth from people all over Long Island. I finally had the opportunity to get dinner to go and I was blown away by the food.
I placed a larger order to share and got the chicken samosas, bread basket, chicken chili garlic noodles, mango chicken, and goat Rogan Josh. Literally every plate of this order was fantastic.
The chicken samosas were a great size and the sauces that came with them really complimented the taste. There was one red sauce that was sweet, that worked the best for me. The chicken chili garlic noodles were just the right amount of spicy. Fresh noodles with great taste all around. A nice compliment to the non spicy dishes we got. The goat was much better than I thought it was going to be. I've had goat in the past and hated it. Having it the way this chef prepared it changed my view on goat meat. Tender chuncks of meat on the bone for more flavor with a wonderful thick sauce. This plate is a must try if you have never had goat. The mango chicken may have been my favorite dish of the night. The chicken was tender, the sauce was nice and thick, and the sweetness of the mango helped cool my taste buds from the noodles. I had some of this dish left over and reheated it the next day, just as good reheated. And of course I can't leave out the bread basket. All the types of bread were delicious. This is just a must to see what type you like the best and to scoop up all the delicious sauce from your dish. Don't let any of it go to waste 😋
Bottom line, if you skipped reading my long review and come to the bottom for if notes. EAT HERE!! You won't be...
Read moreI had never been to this restaurant but heard it was well-regarded and even rewarded for its Indian cuisine. Today, my lovely boyfriend took me and we had no idea we would be in for one of the wildest experiences of our lives. We walked in and asked for a table for 2 at around 7:30 pm on a tuesday. The manager(?) started moving tables around the near empty restaurant and when he was ready he shouted, "come here!" as his way of showing us our seats. Upon being seated, our server handed us menus and said, "just so you know, we don't serve Chinese food". We were confused since we very much new this was an Indian restaurant and had no intention of ordering Chinese food. While we waited for our orders, the restaurant emptied and a server and the manager(?) started arguing over an order for delivery. The manager accused the server of lying and the server was not having it. So we just sat there politely minding our own business in this small restaurant where you can see and hear everything. Then, a disgruntled customer came in and complained to the manager(?) about his food. He apparently ordered food that had a rotten tomato and complained about how the food wasn't like it used to be. He asked if there was a change of management because of how different and bad it was. The manager just said no. Again, we politely minded our own business, now worried about the food we were about to receive. Our entrees were delicious and the restaurant was completely filled by the time we left (8:30 pm). If you are looking for dinner and a show (or two), this is the...
